one of our guys her i guess ranch hand kind of bought a Ak-47 it was like 400$ while we were cruising pastures today out pops a yote. i couldnt think of a better way to use a new rifle. it was probably like a 50 yard shot with no scope. he shot it at a run and it droped so i thought it must be a pretty accurate rifle. what do you guys think?

The best way to mount a scope on an AK is with a side lock scout mount. Stay away from the action cover mounts they won't hold a zero. I had a scoped AK-74 for years that was my loaner gun for those without or with a breakdown. It has taken lots of rabbits and plenty coyotes even a cow. (don't ask) It would hold 1-2moa and I only cleaned it once. I sold it dirty for more than I paid for it new.

They are not as tight as a ar,the reciever is stamped not milled. The parts are a little loose and they are blowback operated not gas like ar styles. The shell they shoot is a large diameter 7.62.In my opion they are very reliable alot of fun and good for what your buddy done. They are not a long range target rifle.

will ill have to look in getting tired of my 22-250 bolt action. but i thought $400 for a rifle just to plink and chase down a few yotes with would be nice but im still kind of stuck on the ars. thanks for the info
and if you have anything else to share about these guns likes or dislikes idc let me know
thanks.

In my opinion there is only one positive to the AK's and that is reliability. They WILL NOT fail to function, I have seen video footage of them teathered to a vehical and dragged behind through mud and mud puddles picked up wet and dirty and fired. Other than that it is a spray and pray weapon.

Is it a precision beanfield rifle? No, they are relatively accurate. Is it effective in its role? Absolutely. Those old M1's didn't always shoot MOA back in the good old days either.
