Dednutz,
Go to www.65grendel.com there is alot of knowledge over there. I'm sure someone has some idea.

+1 on checking out the site...lotssss of info and they know a lot about other calibers as well.

Totally agree with the post above this one also.

I'm just curious DaveD, but what would be an acceptable price for a 6.5G upper, and in what configuration? Because I'm betting there are uppers out there that you don't know about that are quite affordable.

It has nothing to do with the price of the lower, but keeping a high quality product.

Well, Steve...
I am right now shopping for a new 24" upper for some 600 yard fun this summer. Lets go down the list and see who sells a 6.5 Grendel upper:

Colt? No.
Bushmaster? No.
Remington? No. (I know, they may not count)
Rock River? No.
Olympic? No.
Armalite? No.
Knight's Armament? No.
DPMS? No.
DTech? No.
LMT? No.
Stag? No.
CMMG? No.
J&T Distributing? No.
White Oak Armament? No.
JP Rifles? No.

Are you starting to see a trend emerging? None of these outfits are high enough quality? This isn't about keeping quality high. That is a transparent excuse to keep prices high.

What do I expect? I expect to buy a 6.5 Grendel rifle, upper or barrel for the same price as a comparable 6.8 SPC. If I want a chrome-bored mil-spec barrel, I want to be able to buy one. Until then, my anal calluses aren't thick enough to get one. I can't see me patting myself on the back for getting reamed while buying a rifle. You?

Several years ago, I worked for another ammunition manufacturer also in the SW Virginia area. When we contacted Mr. Alexander about reloading ammunition for one of our current customers, we were read the riot act about patents, copyrights, and proprietary information. That has always left a bad taste in my mouth. Please take note, we were not offering to mass produce Grendel ammunition, only to reload previously fired brass....

Alexander Arms is to over priced, and when you try to buy beowolf ammo from them, "that is way over priced", they don't have any. Why?, they say it is all going to Afganistan. My best friend has a 50 Beowolf while this gun does have a huge amount of stopping power I see no practical need for it. Until a major manufacture starts producing at least the brass for these weapons, I think they are a bad investment. If Alexander arms was to go out of business for some reason, your going to be stuck with a $1000 upper that you can't shoot. I think they are a fad. At least if you buy a WSSM upper there are other non AR type rifles chambered in this round and a company as large as Winchester is going to sell at least brass for a good while. They only way I would buy an upper from Alexander Arms is if Cerberus owned them. HA
