Who made Money with ........Utah Coyote Bounties....?

Where did you get that? Most buyers in the state have only been paying about $20 for them even before the bounty. Why would a buyer get mad at a hunter getting paid the bounty as well as selling? It isnt affecting the buyers at all. That makes no sense at all and I highly doubt it has any affect on the price paid.

Utah DWR has been encouraging hunters to pursue coyotes during the denning period so the bounty will be more effective in helping the resource.

Are you kidding they didn't fund anything. The big game hunters pay the bounty through license sales. And I reckon the dwr probably takes a good portion for admin costs.
Littledawg.....S.B. 245, “Mule Deer Protection Act” provided $750,000 of the state's general tax fund to match the sportsmens dollars provided by S.B. 87. Collectively, these two bills provide over $1 million to fund Utah's predator control program.

Well actually there are quite a few:

1) 21 Days in Coyote Heaven features some hunts in Utah
2) FurTakers has filmed a few episodes in Utah (one was in June w/dogs...great episode (BAMIT leading the way))
3) Operation Predator had a few DVDs with hunts in Utah (Big Al again)

I'm sure there were more but my collection is only 65ish DVDs right now.

So, I don't understand this line of reasoning. Aside from possibly killing a den of pups by removing the tending parent(s), why do people think the coyotes have to die in May and June to lower depredation? The coyotes I kill in January and February are neither having pups nor killing fawns in the spring. A dead coyote is just as dead and just as harmless regardless of when it is killed. Lowering the population of predators is the goal is it not? (Don't get me wrong--I respect the choice to hunt spring depredation as well.)

It is thought that coyotes with pups in the den are more likely to hunt as a team and kill deer fawns. Some studies have shown up 60% coyote caused mortality in the first 3 months of a fawns life. Deer fawns drop may/june. Killing the bred pair kills the denned pups. Less coyotes killing deer fawns when they are most susceptible to predation and taking out 5-7 coyotes with a bullet or two. Thats why they like to see may/june hunting. If you are near enough to the den you get the pups also. $50 a coyote. It works best if you hunt with a dog that time of year. I got a few I claimed bounty on and will be trapping in Utah this season so I hope they cover gas money.

The SFW lobbied the legislature to up the license fee on big game tags to fund the bounty program. SFW gets hundreds of thousands of dollars from the sale of big game tags and/or auctions. It isn't like the legislature woke up one fall morning and said I think we should have a bounty program. Where do you think SFW and the other so called big game organizations get the money to push these programs. To increase the license price they need a new SB to make it legal. They aren't doing it or funding it out of the goodness of their heart.

And somebody can correct me if I'm wrong on this one, but I believe each county gets money from either the cattlemans association or the USDA for bounty programs. The individual counties were just throwing this into their general fund. SFW sued and forced them to pay the bounties or turn the money back in. If I remember right (I may be wrong) I thought some elected to turn it back in.

I got my info about the monopoly from a fur buyer who attended the auction. Perhaps your buyer wasn't present.

Yes they want you to kill the denning pair or at least one parent thus eliminating the predidation on mule deer fawns.

If you are talking the Utah Trappers fur auction, you better question your source. Take a look at the prices they paid for coyotes. I am sure most of these had slit ears. http://utahtrappers.org/docs/2013auction_finals.pdf

The way it reads is the dept of ag put in $200,000 the mule deer protection act put up $500,000 and the rest comes from $5 per big game lic. It also says that game dept was going to review the program after it ran out of money to see if it was going to carry on. I know of a few guys who got more than $22.50 for coyote hides with split ears. When I checked in my coyotes for the bounty the game dept. guy said he was checking very few coyotes and I took that to mean not very many were participating.I doubt that the origional money has even been dented.

I did see some Idaho plates at the check in. I think there are some but not many from what I have seen.
