that I can keep the original safety lever? I called Remington on my 600 and they told me that the trigger hasnt been replaced by the recall. I was told by their representative that the triangular safety lever will be replaced with a modern looking 700 type along with the trigger swap. I would instead like to find an aftermarket trigger that I can incorporate my original safety lever into being I want the gun to look original. I have some friends that had their triggers replaced by Remington back in the day and they still have their original safties...I take it they changed the replacement part over the years?

Midway does show 2 Timney triggers for the mod 600. The one without the safety is rather light for hunting though. If it was me I'd just take one with the safety installed & not worry about the minor difference. You'd still have the original trigger to put back in if needed.

There may be other makes of replacement triggers for the 600. I just looked at the Timneys,(currently out of stock).

Are you replacing it because you want a new/better trigger, or because of the recall?

The Remington Trigger is fully adjustable and can be tuned to be rather nice.

...because of the recall. I dont want to send it ro remington being I would like to find a trigger that would accept the original safety lever. I'm thinking if no one makes suchh an animal I might purchase a timney and get someone to tack weld on the top of the safety lever for me. I would keep the original trigger and adjust it down if I knew the original was safe to use. Dose anyone sell the converson part that lets the bolt open when the safety is on?

Contact Rifle Basix, I bought one several years ago and it's a very nice trigger. I don't think they show it for sale anymore, but someone told me if you called them they would still build one for you. Good Luck!

When Remington changes it so you can work the bolt with the safety on basically all they do is trim off the tang that enters the bolt handle. If you have tin snips, you can do it in seconds.

Thanks Jack, I found a "new on shelf" Rifle Basix 600v trigger discontinued in 05' that accepts the orginal factory safety lever for $115. A smith shop on line I found had one collecting dust. When I install it I'll trim off the tang as well. The trigger is adjustable from 8 oz to 1.5lbs...a little light for me. I called Rifle basix and they were nice enough to send me a spring that they said should work for me. It will change the pull from 1.5 lbs to 4 lbs. I own a half dozen Timneys but no rifle basix. I had one years ago that was adjustable from 1.5 lbs to 4 lbs but I couldn't get it below 3 lbs. I don't know if it was me or if the trigger had an issue so I replaced it with a Timney. Will the lighter Rifle Basix adjust higher without changing the spring out?
