Who Makes The Best .22 Hornet?

Browning micro hunter is a great gun the 60 degree bolt is alot nicer then the standered bolt where the bolt touches the scope. mine shoots 1 inch groups with regular remington loads at 150 yards it has a 20 inch free floating barrel bedded stock wright out of the box nice plus you can adjust the triger

For those that don't like CZ's magazine hanging down, James Calhoon Mfg. makes a single shot follower that removes the magazine. http://www.jamescalhoon.com/

But what if we don't want a single shot??? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused1.gif

I got the Ruger and the CZ, No problems getting the ruger to shoot. 35gr v-max and 296 powder.

I have yet to shoot the CZ but a buddy of mine has one...he said its a tack driver!!! I have been kind of saving it for my son when hes ready for one!! I will though make sure it shoots /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

This seems to come up every week lately! Most CZ owners are very happy. A few have Brownings and love them. Some like the Savage. Some Ruger owners love the accuracy the rest just sell theres and join the CZ crowd. If you can afford an Anschutz it would be hard to beat. If you want reliable out of the box accuracy for the average price of the others get a CZ.

Theres also someone out there, I cant think of who... But they will take your CZ clip and cut it so its flush. I think it holds 3. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Is anyone having problems with 296,not lighting up in real cold weather? There have been problems with it and H110 in large cal. handguns during extreem cold 0-and below. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif

RKS, let us know how it goes!

2MGun, I all the Hornets except a Browning including an Anschutz HB. My CZ will out shoot them all out of the box with factory ammo including the Anschutz. Guns are like people, some just work better than others.

Guys, I tell you what--have you seen the lady that is President of CZ? She is one fine looking lady, saw her in the latest CZ catalog.

Anyone that looks that good and has guns that shoot that good, well lets just say I may be sold on CZ's! LOL
Tim

Welcome to the board Tdbob!

2mg, I have seen the Anschutz .22 lr's shoot really well as my Win. Model 52 and 52B. This is the first Anschutz I ever bought. It looks great, smooth action, great trigger, but did not like factory ammo very much. I have not had the chance to reload for it yet. I don't know if they are all like this one but my CZ shooting the same ammo out shot it with a sporter bbl. Could buy 3 CZ's for the cost of this one. The problem I see with the Hornets is ammo. If you can find a good load they will probably shoot well in all the rifles. I have shot 5 or 6 of the Rugers out of the box with factory ammo and 3" at 100 was the best and some were 5". I would like to get my hands on a Browning Micro as this is the only one I don't own.

Well,I got to shoot the M77 Hornet today with a bunch of diffrent powders. The two that showed promise were, VVN110,and Li'l Gun. After shooting around 15 rounds at the mark,I was having trouble seeing where exactly they were hitting. I stuck another target dot up at 100yds,and tried the hand loads my friend gave me to try out. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shocked.gif Holy Cow! I shot the first one and it hit a little low,so I shot another, but couldn't see where it hit! So I shot a third shot, and walked down to the target. I couldn't believe what I was seeing, three shots in the same hole. I went back, and gave the scope one click up,and shot again. The bullet printed exactly 1/4 inch higher than the group. I quit there and came home.Called John and asked what the powder weight was in his reloads,he told me to go to Hogdon's site and it was right there. I think I'm gonna like the Ruger even better than I thought I would. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif Ron

I'm having really good results, on paper, with 33 gr. Speer TNT's over 12.5 gr. of Lil Gun. It's not exactly a sizzler load but it shoots well. If I need more juice I'll break out one of the "big" guns. I found the TNT's on sale at Lock, Stock & Barrel last fall and bought a thousand of them. I have not had them out in the PD fields yet so the jury is still out on performance. In another Hornet I have found the 40 gr. Sierras work well and they are good in the field. Fairly good kills. The 36 gr. Calhoons work well in my rifles as well.

Gee Ron....looks like you got lucky. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shocked.gif As I hear it, most Rugers won't shoot. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

Glad you like your rifle. Like I said, I know of several that are doing the same thing that yours is.....itty bitty groups most all the time. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Hidalgo
Yeah! I couldn't be happier with the preformance, and using the factory crimp really makes a diffrence in the group size! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
