Who shoots a 270 Win for coyotes?

I use numerous 22 centerfires and a 6mm but a light 270 is a great gun for predators. With 90 gr hollow points it’s a flat and accurate shooter. If you’re saving the fur a common hunting bullet will be less destructive, the 90 grain will sometimes cut the dog in half!
The “best” coyote gun is probably whatever you have in your hand when you see a coyote. Seen ‘em shot with magnums, 30-30s, and I’ve shot about as many with a shotgun as with a rifle.

I do not own a 270 and haven’t ever shot a coyote with one.

But 308, 44 rem mag, 12 gauge with shot sizes between 5 and #4 buck, 20 gauge slug, 22lr, 22 Mag, 17hmr, 243, 204, Darton, Bowtech, High Country, Matthews all got it done, so I guess it would work? :ROFLMAO: ;)

Yep! My first coyote was with a .308 w/100 gr. Speer plinker and, have shot coyotes w/222, 223, 6mm Rem, 243WSSM (AR 15, all time favorite coyote rifle), 308 Win, 30-06, 308 Norma Mag., 300 WM, 338 WM and 375 h&h, but never w/a shotgun. In all honesty, there have been a few times I wished I had a shotgun in my hands instead of a rifle, but always felt handicapped (range wise) with a shotgun where I hunt.

Never owned a 270, but gotta love it's older brother, the 30-06. I cannot honestly count the number of 30-06's I have owned over the years. To be honest, the 30-06 with a 125 gr NBT becomes a .270 with a lot more options as to available bullets and the .270 with 150 gr up becomes a 30-06 with a cap on the range of heavier bullets available. To say that a 100 gr. Plinker in a 30-06 isn't fur friendly is an extreme understatement and on the other end of the scale, a 190 gr on up to 220's are quite potent medicine for anything on this continent.

Would not be my choice just due to the drops at longer ranges. But it will certainly do the job

A Model 70 in .270 Win. was all I had for quite some time. I used Hornady 110 gr. HP and a case full (FULL - I didn't have a scale, just filled them up and crunched 'em down) of surplus 4831 (that came in an unlabeled paper grocery bag). Never lost one hit with that load, I can say that.

Like Chad, I eventually got a .22-250 and never looked back. Unlike Chad, I didn't get smart, I just got a .22-250.

In that I haven’t skinned a coyote in years, (it just ain’t worth it to me anymore), the 270 90 grain varminter is just fine. Same with other 6mm, 25 cal bullets blow gaping holes in fur. I also have a Tikka 22-250 that is very accurate but I don’t necessarily prefer it for coyotes over the 270.
I reckon I’m not too smart.😂🤣

Not many are saving fur anymore so whatever your comfortable with makes decent coyote rifle. My ex was a 270 fan her dad gave her a Rem 700 .270 in the 1960s, as she was a magician with a pump at trap doubles and skeet I gave her a Rem 760 in the early 1970s. I shot a Mark X mannlicher in 270 for a number of years. It is a great round

I had some solid copper 110 grain bullets loaded for my 270. I think they will go straight through the chest cavity of a coyote without causing much pelt damage.

I've shot a couple with 270win and 110gr V-max. It was flat shooting and not fur friendly at all of course. Took it out early season to get in some practice with it since it was my main deer rifle at the time.

I use a combination of a .223, .17 Hornet or a .357 magnum lever. I've got a .270, but it feels way too big for what I am doing. But a lot of my predators are shot in less than 200 yards.

A friend of mine used a Win Pre-64 FWT .270 for years.
