Who uses ATV/Quads to hunt? Added pics of Quad and Trailer

I your area Slime is a must. I use to mountain bike a lot and the only way to go hundred yads in a desert area without a flat is to use Slime. After putting it in I wouldn't worry about carrying fix a flat. Compressor might be nice though.........

Good post. I haven't been using my Rhino because of the noise. I will use it more and see if my bad luck gets any worse. I know deer I have seen walk right by my quad or truck. I have slime in my tires and carry a compressor and tire plugs. I haven't had to use it but have fixed friends trucks or atvs though.

roadkill46, I use mine when I head East of the mountains. I like the advantage of seeing sign on the road easier from my atv. It also saves on fuel cost and wear and tare on your truck!

thank you all very much for the posts. i carry extra everything in the cap of the truck anyway so i can do an engine tear down if needed!!! just got my sides put up on the trailer, just makes me feel a little more secure than a flat bed w/o rails. gotta paint it up tomorrow. the Brute Force is a beast! took it around the block and man oh man what an animal. i'll take it out a little more tomorrow just for experience. asphalt is totally diff than sand/desert but it is really cool to drive. huge windstorm today kept me in the garage just building the trailer. thanx again all!!!

We use a Honda Rubicon with a flow master exhaust pipe to cut down the sound. It is great, because we can take it anywhere. We don't abuse it. We never tear up ground. You don't need a road. We just go where we want. Ours it totally self contained. We have two rifle cases and a case behind the seat that we keep the camera, MOJO Critter, and e-call in.

Atleast find a small dip in the ground to conseal part of it and if you have a windsheild you should have something to cover it up...

I absolutely agree. You still have to treat it like a vehicle. We always hide the ATV.

I have a 95 Yamaha Timberwolf that we bought for the farm several years ago. Painted it camo with Krylon Fusion paints and I use it more for hunting than anything else. Have seen yotes and deer walk right past it and never give it a second look. Here in the swamps and sloughs of southern OK it is a real lifesaver. My muffler is about rusted out and I have seen animals stand beside the road and never flinch.

that is the one thing that i do also. i take care of my stuff. i find that my money tree is starting to die slowly so i don't jump things, scream off and do power slides etc. i can't see some kids nowadays, man i sound old, that try to intentionally break something? you tube is full of let's try to break our $8000 quad on this jump. ridiculous if ya ask me. i agree with hiding vehicles. it is kinda hard in the desert to hide coyote killer I but coyote killer II should be a LOT easier! first day out with it will be thursday, only have to work an hour just to get my staff's paychecks and then i'm out! going to a nice open area that got CKI stuck in some deep sand so i was not able to hunt this huge alfafa fields back side.

just going to use a regular hard case for the guns strapped to the front rack. i built a wood box last nite for the back rack for all the break down equipment. gotta find where i'm going to strap my dove bucket that holds all the calling gear and that's it.

I don't do any of that stuff either. I did roll one off of a Mtn last year with some pain on my end.

When I bought my first 4 wheeler in 2000 and knowing how kids are. This is the 3 rules I live by when anyone wants to borrow my 4 wheeler. If you break it Can you fix it yourself? If you break it can you afford to have someone repair it? If you total it can you buy me a new one. If the answer is No to any of the three question then you have your answer. If it is Yes to question 3 then go buy your own because you don't need to borrow mine. My Daughter learned this lesson when her Boyfriend let some kid ride her 4 wheeler and wrecked it and she had to spend money to repair it herself. She told me how she used to think I was an [beeep] for saying that. But she understands now.

I use an Artic cat prowler. Would like to get a benz silent muffler, but as of yet they don't have one for the '08 models. If anyone knows of silencer for the '08's please let me know. Gets me to places I'd never make it to without a quad or sidexside!

i use a kawasaki mule mostly on the road though from farm to farm and i walk in dont have to walk as far now and i save money on gas. bought gun rack for back truck window.and mounted it to back headache rack. it is alot quieter than my quad and i have more room to store things. just have to empty it of feed buckets and fencing equipment b4 i leave and reload when i get home. wish when i bougt it i had bought the hard cab instead of soft sided the zipper doors suck.

yeah i'm still down with a cold so i didn't get to try it out today. tomorrow, santa, with a present to myself, i got the soft, cammo wrap around the rear rack bags and a gun rack for the front. i'll put that under the tree tonite and let the grandson open it, he's only 1 and likes the paper!! my bucket fits perfect in the "square" the bags make, got the trailer camo'd up, think i'll just leave the quad kawa green for now, prolly change my mind tomorrow. i'll take pics of it all loaded up CKI and CKII for saturday's hunt. I just found some close BLM today when i went shopping that is new to me, didn't even know it was there. i'll hunt it saturday. looks promising.
