who uses fixed power scopes for calling?

How many use them and what brand and power do you use? I have been thinking about the fixed nikon buckmaster 4x40 mm power for a calling scope. I have bigger scopes but always have my scope on low power when calling, plus the lighter weight. Why I like alot of power in a scope is I have trouble seeing the target good at 100 yards when sighting the rifle in, I might have trouble shooting of the bench at 100 yards with a fixed scope. Just a thought, lets here what you think and have.

I use a older 4 power Leopold. I have several varibles but very seldom change the power setting.

I find that if I shoot alot and don't change the settings I don't need to estmate range. If the critter looks this big in the crosshairs hold there, bang, gottem, Simpler is truely better.

Fixed power scopes work well in a lot of situations. Sometimes simple woks best. I never change my setting on my variables very often. Variables can work well on varmint shooting, but coyote hunting is a lot different.

I have tried pretty much everything on my AR, High powered variables, low power variables, and now, at least for me I have stuck with a 3.5x fixed power Trijicon ACOG and for an AR calling rig this thing is about perfect. I love the illuminated reticle for fast target acquisition, and 3.5 power is plenty for me to hit targets out to 250-300 yards with ease..............

My 218 Bee (marlin 1894) has a Weaver K-1.5 on it and the truck gun (savage 222Rem) has a Weaver Grand Slam 4.75x with a Weaver K-1.5 sighted in as a spare. Alot of my other rifles have fixed Weaver K-3's and 4's pre sighted as back ups if something happens to the main scope on a trip.

Your 4x Nikon should make a great scope. It sounds like you need to focus your scopes it your haveing a hard time seeing the target at 100yds. I've had the lenses replaced in both eyes and the right isn't quite right but I can focus my scope to be able to see the targets clearly, nobody else can see out of my scope but that's OK by me.

I have a Nikon 6x on my AR15, it is chambered in 17 Rem, and I have a 6x Leupold on a 308 Win.

I have been thinking of getting a 4x for one calling rig, my shots are usually between 25-75 yards on called coyotes.

The Weaver Grand Slam 4.75x40 is a lot of scope for the money, IMO.

You also may be able to find an "old model" Monarch 4x40.....
