Who uses online Gun Auctions to buy guns?

Many years ago it was a big deal to get out on a weekend and go to the gun show. Could have been just to see what was available and maybe find a good deal.
Today with GunBroker, AuctionArms, and GunsAmerica every day is a gun show. I have always been afflicted with
TDMG (Too Dang Many Guns) disease and even still today I battle it.

I have bought numerous rifles on the net. I may have been lucky but so far honest americans is all I've run into. I found a good deal just the other day on a Winshester 70 that I would have never expected with all the clamering about them out of production. Good deals are out there if you are willing to watch and waite.

What was your best Internet gun deal? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused1.gif

I bought a very nice Remington BDL 7mm Magnum for $265+25 shipping and FFL charge. The best thing about it was after sighting in the first 3 shots fired for group all touched.
Now that was a good deal ! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif

My best on was on AuctionArms, it was right before Winchester made their announcement and I got a Mod. 70 XTR in .300 H&H with a Leupold VX II 3-9 for $550 shipped. I've bought several off the net and until the last one I bought all had been better than expected. The last one was a Browning BBR in .257 Roberts that I paid more for than I wanted to, but I had been looking for this gun for awhile, the auction said it had some bluing wear and a few handling marks, but when I got it it had rust pitting on the underside of the barrel and 2" had been cut off the stock. The guy was nice enough about it and refunded my money, I told him if he was going to relist it and include that info I would probably bid again. Well he relisted it and mentioned the pitting but still didn't mention the cut stock so I didn't bid, hopefully another one will come along.

I've bought and sold some on AuctionArms and all have been good deals whether buying or selling. Mostly looking for milsurps but they go a bit too high on the auctions. Looking for a good buy on a Hakim!

I cruise the pawnshops for most of my good deals, but I use the auction sites to do a lot of price checking. It seems that the only good deals at the gun shows anymore, are from folks walking around trying to unload their guns.

My best buy to date was a Sako 75 SST .338 WinMag LNIB for $615. Sportsmans Warehouse was selling the same rifle for $1059 new.

I bought a trapdoor Springfield for a very good price over the internet and have puchased a number of Mausers. One thing about it, you certainly can get good connections on rifles that aren't usually available in my area. But it is addictive and I try to be conservative. Still, a guy can do well on used rifles if he's careful.

I buy stuff but, only when it is a great deal. and it is lower than buying from "my source" who gets dealer cost.

My biggest fear is what basshole went through,,i dont want to buy anything sight unseen or going by someone else's description,,BUT i would buy a gun or anything else for that matter from a member of this site that is listed in the PM classified adds,Basshole got lucky and had a person refund his money,,there are some people out there that want to unload their "junk" and you never hear from them again,,like they just fell off the face of the earth, but i have been on this site long enough now that i would trust the members on PM /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
Thank you

I've used both Guns America and Gunbroker to buy/sell guns. Beats wasting gas on guns shows which around here are more like junk shows.

I've bought and sold guns on several sites with mostly positive results. I bought a revolver on Gunbroker that had to be returned and I had no problem at all with the seller. I recently got a rifle off of Guns America that was somewhat misrepresented. It was described as like new, nearly unfired, and did appear to be nearly unfired when I removed it from the box. Upon shooting the rifle, a 700 Remington Classic in .223, it would not group under 1.5 inches with any of my usual factory ammo. It always shot two rounds within an inch then would toss a flyer. Because I'd been looking for some time for a 700 Classic in .223 I did not return the rifle. I removed the stock and found the barrel channel had been sanded smooth, and I found shims behind the recoil lug. It was apparent then that I had purchased a problem rifle that someone couldn't get to shoot. I put a new classic stock I had on the rifle but it still refused to shoot. I then installed a Timney trigger, properly free floated the barrel in the original stock, and removed the shims from behind the recoil lug. I now have a rifle shooting consistent MOA groups. Time and patience was all it took, but I'll hesitate to buy a used rifle off the internet again.

Good hunting y'all.. Coyote 6974

I bought a used Ruger Trap Model 12guage 2years ago. Ruger only made like 500 and most got bought before they left the factory. I found 3 others on the net for around $4000 and I picked mine up in 99% shape for $2250. It was on GunsAmerica. No problem what so ever doing gun business online...
