Well I had a great day! Woke up to a temperature of 12 degrees and ZERO wind.
I arrive to the area with thick fog and lots of frost...I love it!
I just got my FX5 so I wanted to try it out. Set it out at 40yds and turn it on jackrabbit. From the sage to my left at about 150yds pops #1...then 2...3...4...5...and I see #6's ears over the brush! I don't like educating that many to only take one so I quit the caller. They mill around then back to where they came. I wait 5 mins then call again. Out in front of me comes a coyote crossing the meadow. I let him get @20 paces from the FX5 and bang flop using my Bushmaster predator with 60gr V-max. No ugly holes in the hides. A wicked bullet!

Next set is dry.
3rd set I put the call to my right about 35yds in front of some cattails. I call about 12 minutes and I see 2 magpies coming. Out of the tall grass @2:00 comes a coyote stops and DRT.

I KiYi and to my left @10:00 pops another at about 65yds. She goes down with a WHOP!

Set #4 Is a NoGo.
Set #5 I set the call near a strip of grass left out in the Meadow grass cut field. Then I head for a weed patch. I turn in time to se a coyote POP out of the tall grass about 200yds directly down wind from me. I drop to the ground and it never saw me. I play the call low(guinea pig) but it trots off after about 5 minutes. I turn the volume up(jack) and I see a second coyote looking my way about 150 yds beyond where the first one came out. He trots closer to about 150yds, stops, puts his nose in the air testing the wind. I can see him over the brush but when I look through my scope all I see is brush. I change to Lucky Bird on low volume and she like that! trots in to @80yds but I still can't see over the brush! It trots back and forth a couple times nervously looking around. Then it moves off the left giving me a marginal shot through the brush. I squeeze off and it cartwheels then runs in an arc and I see it tumble out of sight in the meadow. I walk over seeing this blood trail in the snowy grass...heartshot.

Next set I walk across a frozen swamp through some rushes. There's a small hump where I want to sit with a fence going over it. I don't want to be seen so I slip over the hump sitting with my back against a clump of tall frosty grass next to the fence.

I call with my Arky Yoter open reed off and on for about 7 minutes. A coyote shows up to the right of the double trees. It gets to 60 yds and it's lights out. #5 for the Bushmaster today!

That is the most coyotes I have taken by myself in one day. Thanks for reading about my hunt! Bobby

PS:I'm going to the PMasters Globe hunt in a month. I've never been in that area before so if anyone who knows the area would like a partner for a day or so please send me a PMessage. I'm looking forward to meeting the guys going there and making some new friends. THANKS!

Great day!!! 6 is my best, three in one stand. Looks like it was a blast. Wow, 125-175.$ while having fun in the snow! Good luck T.20

I'll be looking forward to seeing you there. You won't need that Snow ghost camo though. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

BTW, how do you like that gear. I know the pattern is great, but how does it stand up??

I like it pretty well. It holds up good and isn't very expensive. I look forward to seeing you in Globe.

dukxdog-- What a fantastic day for you!!! I'd take five in a week the way it has been going around here. Heck, right now five in a month would look GREAT!!! Thanks for the great write-up and the photos.
