Why do I have bullet damage while cycling my ar 6.8?

It will cycle through the mag. but the bullets have some scratches on them and when I use the Pro Hunters the soft bullet gets a little deformed.

My .223 is real rough on bullets too. Have to wonder how much effect it has on that top round after its been chambered a few times.

Iv chambered the same round many times, checked for bullet set back with no difference. Other than a scratched up bullet, it shot the same.

Ya, the feedramps, magazine and bolt lugs will scratch the cases some. It's normal. The damage to the tip is the result of seating out to absolute maximum magazine length. recoil slams the bullet tip into the front of the magazine. It usually does not affect accuracy but if you can bump them back some, it will lessen or go away.

If you have an case runout gage, check to make sure they aren't slamming into the ramps so hard that the bullets are getting knocked out of alignment. Check runout on a round then chamber it and compare the difference.

Otherwise, as others have said I wouldn't worry about the scratches.
