Why do we sound like dying rabbits, birds, etc?

The French versions only work in Quebec, around Prairie du Chien (WI) and Looosiana. All other coyotes respond only to the CoyEnglish calls. Below the Mason-Dixon line, you may have to put a southern drawl in your calls, (y'allooooo instead of Owoooo), and in Canada you have to add the vocalization "eh?" on the end. New York and LA hunters are developing rap and hip hop versions, dispersed over remote cell phones, but have not achieved great success yet.

I once saw a pair of yotes prowling through the woods of northern NJ. Couldn't hear if they were saying "Yo!" to each other though.

Here's an interesting example of animal behavior. I used to hunt crows near a disused landfill with a wooded hill behind it. The crows liked to hang out on the hill in the afternoons. When trying to sneak up on the flock there, their outlying sentries spotted me and alerted the flock. I heard loud cawing fading away to the right. Looking there I could barely see over the treetops three or four noisy crows retreating in that direction. Looking back to the left, however, I observed the rest of the crew, some dozen or so, sneaking away in the opposite direction in silence. Pretty sneaky those guys.
