Why is the 204 better in wind than the 223?

You will get arguments on "fur friendly" too. I know that in the 14 coyotes my .204 has put down this season, the only pass through, was a side shot in the neck. No other exits.

Old Fart,
What bullet are you using?
I finally worked up a load for my new 204 barrel and haven't been able to shoot any critters with it yet.
Using 24 gr of benchmark and 40 gr V-max's.

All the above is interesting, but what I want to know is, "is the 204 fur friendly?"

I have only seen one hit from the .204, on a coon and it did not exit ......but it hade a softball sized enterance hole

I am still in and plan to get one! lol /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smiliesmack.gif

the 204 almost mirrors the 223's trajectory if you shooting a 35 gr bullet in the 223, beyond 400 yds is where the higher bc starts really showing the advantage.

Yes, as a guy who is going to try his hand at selling hides for the first time this winter, what have all you guys found? Is that .204 much fur-friendlier than a .22-250? How about a .223? I am considering getting a new rifle from Dtech, and am thinking about the .204. What are your guys' REAL WORLD experiences?

You would be better off working at MickeyDs than skinning, fleshing, stretching, drying, and hauling to market fur. It will also cut down on the time you could be hunting.

slugger,
I hope that I NEVER find the need to skin another coyote. I just wanted to throw a zinger at Utah is all. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Rich,

I wouldn't want to skin many coyotes either if I had to sew up all those holes from those Deer rifles you use.lol /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Stop thinkin' about it and get it on order, you won't regret it.

13 kills with my DTech .204 so far this winter. 8 with 40 gr. Bergers and 5 with 35 gr. Bergers. Only one of the 13 had a huge hole in it, and it was because I hit him very low in the chest and it opened him up like a zipper, with a 40 gr. berger. All of the 35 gr. kills were one hole in with no exit. About half and half with the 40 gr. bergers so far, with only the one being ugly. The other exit holes were no larger than a silver dollar from the 40 gr. bergers.

zero wounded coyotes!
