Why you chose an AR rifle???

Because of our current administration. Then I found out how accurate they are. The Armalite I have will hang with all but my most accurate bolt guns. It will hang in in the .5 MOA range with good hand loads in 4 different bullet weights. Since then, I have picked up another AR chambered in 6.5 Grendel that shoots as good as the Armalite, and I should have another by Dec. chambered in 358 Gremlin for deer hunting here in Indiana next year. So yeah they are addictive.

Good read on these responeses. Seems that many started out the same as I did - dismissed them as Rambo wannabe toys. Bashed them based on 1960's reviews and the prejudice of the big boy gun press. I was and still am happy with my single shots and bolts, but have a new view on Stoner's machine.

The change came in 2008 when we sold a machine to Rock River Arms and I actually held a M4 platform rifle and then spent 2 hours while waiting on a contactor literally handeling every rifle in the show area. the head to scope position, the trigger finger position, the balance made me want one. I ended up with a pred pursuit 223 and can't believe the accuracy (always under 3/4 with factory and i have handloads that don't cut outside the 1/2" square) and the ease of sighting. As a former BR basher, i gladly admit that i was totally wrong about the black rifle's capabilities, accuracy, and place in the hunting community.

Best of luck,

Ted

Hard to beat a shotgun for those kinda situations.

An AR ain't no better for hitting a running coyote than any other rifle. But yes, an AR will let you miss em a little faster with the 2nd, 3rd and 4th shots than a bolt rifle will though.

A shotgun would have been perfect that day but I been carrying 2 firearms in the field for a while now and that day I put the shot gun up...chet happens.
