WI bear hunt with dogs ????

A friend of mine has drawn a kill tag for this years black bear season. I'm trying to help him set up a hunt for the end of September. I was wondering if anyone here would be running a pack of bear dogs and need a shooter. We have access to a cabin in the Phillips area. We can stay there for next to nothing. I'm going to be the cameraman on this one. I would like to stay within an hour of Phillips but I'm open to suggestions.

Thanks, Budmandan

Owning a pack of big game hounds, I can honestly say that finding shooters to shoot game out of a tree is never a problem. It's finding a person to help with training costs, vet bills, dog food, tracking systems, travel expenses, and miscellaneous other extensive costs associated with running hounds that are in short supply. Still, I'm surprised nobody has taken you up on your offer.

Good Luck,

Kevin

Thanks for the support Kevin. I understand the costs involved. I've got a couple of coondogs myself. They're both pups, this is going to be a training year for me.

In Wisconsin you need 5-7 preferance points to draw a bear tag. My friend that drew a tag this year got busy and didn't start looking for a pack of dogs to hunt behind quite early enough. We have talked to 3 differant guys with packs, but they all seem to have 3 or 4 guys with tags lined up already. I just thought I'ld put this up on the board to see what was out there. I'm sure we'll put something together. We're just weighing our options at the moment.

Good Hunting, Budmandan
