well the wild dogs came back over the weekend I saw about 8 of'em a mile or so down the road. By the time I got back their with a the buzzgun they were long gone,I spent half the day in the pouring rain trying to locate the pack. with no luck..Im wondering If this pack of wild dogs might be one of the reason's I can't seem score a kill on any of the local Yotes. Anyone know what effect a pack of dogs would have on coyote behavoir?

I have seen wild dogs and coyotes running together here at night. It sounds strange but I have seen it. The dogs don't seem to have the fear of man that a coyote does and that's enough to get your attention.

The "wild dogs" that I have had experience with are more dangerous to man than any coyote. They look for numbers and weakness. They test, then move in if it is in their favor. The wild dogs around here are on the core land mostly. Many of them sleep in and around homes during the day then meet at night to hunt and play games with local stock. I have killed them attacking deer, then here later someone is looking for their hang around mutt because he wasn't sleeping under the porch that morning. It is getting to be more of a problem than it has ever been. People just drop them off in the country for what ever reason and think it is okay. I have a mixed coyote on the ranch that I lease now. He is large, 55 to 60 pounds, and looks to be part German Shepard. He runs alone though.

We had the chance to see four wild dogs chasing a coyote in late January. Then a few weeks agao we saw on a few differant occations one of the dogs by itself. I am wondering if the coyotes got sick of these dogs and killed most of them? I hope so, I don't need to worry about road hunters and dogs mess up the yots anymore then they already are.

We have an abundance of wild dogs on our leases and farms that I regularly hunt here in Virginia.

Im not sure what impact they have on the predators, but I have seen the dogs and coyotes together.

They catch a bullet faster than most of the other game animals I hunt if they offer a shot (it doesnt even have to be a good shot).

If they have a collar they get walking papers, if not they better look out.

The season is always open for these feral dogs (and cats)and there is no bag limit.

Where we live we have had wild dogs attack people, but i've never heard of yotes attacking people here. They seem to have no fear. When we find them out running wild we use well placed roadblocks for em 55 gr at a time. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif

We have problems with them as well and as the others have said they arent very hesitant to approach a human. I had a big shepard mix, easily 100+lbs sneak up behind me when yote hunting. I never heard him come up till he was about 15ft behind me and i noticed him out the corner of my eye baring his teeth and spun around and let him meet the business end of an 870 wingmaster with 3" slug. We have had problems with packs of them chasing and attacking people. I call them fair game if they are un-collared.
