wild hogs with a knife?

i watched it on video at the harrisburg sports show last year, it was insane. alls i can say is you guys have bigger uh knives than i do. hats off to yall brave enough to do that.

I grew up in hawaii and have some bros there that hunt boars with dogs and knifes. I try to make it over every year to visit family, but what i realy look forward to is the boar hunt . Thats got to be one of the biggest rush to see a big old boar hauling a$$ through the jungle . the noises are great, hearing the dogs going crazy and that boar screeming . here are a couple pics of the one we got last time .

Somewhere in the archives, is the post Randy Watson made (with pics) about his hand to hand combat with a wild hog. Good read if someone can find it and bring it up.

Here in Florida they use mostly pit bulls and when the dogs bay they catch and hold.

The hunter jumps on the hog and ties his feet together. They're then transported home where they're fed up on corn for a few months and then butchered.

The meat is as good as domestic hog that way.

Nope... Don't be thinkin' I'm crazy enough to jump on a wild hog, dogs or not, but I've been there and seen it and the adrenaline rush is pretty wild.

I prefer to do my hog huntin' in the deep river swamps with a handgun and then I pull my game cart in and roll 'em out. I mostly make sausage out of them and avoid the big boars cuz' their meat is NASTY and even dogs won't eat it.

We hunt in Sabinal every so often on the Chambers ranch. Its bowhunting so Darn near every hit pig turns into one of these episodes.
Our first trip, We were guided by a BONAFIDE cowboy named Ed. His 13 year old boy Luke was tuffer than most men Ive ever met. He could bleed out a hog so fast, it would make you wonder if what you just saw actually happened. He'd grab the back leg lift him up and pop him in the armpit then let him loose all in the blink of an eye. Awesome in the daytime, Completely rewrite your version of exciting after the sun goes down.

Met a guy in Florida who hunts hogs with 3 pit bulls, and a knife. He said You can't use a gun because the Game Worden, or land owner will hear you. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif The little ones he ties up, and takes home to fatten up. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif By the way wild pork is much better eating than the domestic pork. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ooo.gif

If you guys think thats crazy, I had an uncle in south carolina that caught one, and put it on a chain in his back yard. Then one day it broke the chain and come after him and tore up his leg. I don't think he was trying trying to fatten it up though; I think he was trying to make a pet out of it. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smiliesmack.gif

I will be doing something like this in a few weeks. I am using an old Turkish mauser bayonet and putting it on a 4 foot long pole. I have a bad foot and need the extra space or I'd just use a knife.....

around here we dont even use knives. No hogs though, just coons, opossums, skunks etc... just a good bat and a friend, sometimes not even a bat, just a reliable pair of boots. I have a friend who will try anything. He has grabbed a coon by the back of the neck and picked him up then beat him with a bat while holding him. Had the same guy climb a tree, stick his hand in a hole that he saw a coon go in, drag him out, drop to the ground and beat him to death. Crazy i tell ya.
