Will Ferrell

He is awesome man! I like the Harry Carry he did on SNL...priceless.

"HEY! If you were a hotdog would you eat yourself? I know I would, cover my self in mustard and relish, Id be delicious!
Dont jerk me around Norm, its a simple question. If you were a hotdog...would you eat yourself?"

Why do you think he is an idiot? He is one of the most funny person living.

I happen to agree that he is an idiot. I like some of his films, however, I think that he tries way to hard to be funny and is kinda like straining to poop.

Maybe he saw Talladega Nights I saw it today, it was stupid but funny.

Haven't seen the movie and won't. I have seen the commercials where he is screaming at the camera, That was only due to the fact I couldn't find the remote fast enough to change the channel. He makes me want to puke when I see him. And don't even get me started on his political views.
He is wasteing good air.

I agree that anyone in the limelight or any public position that can influence a large portion of the population should keep their political beliefs to themselves, it’s damaging to their careers and our country. My opinion is if they want to take the chance it’s a free country then so be it. We have no one to blame but ourselves if we don’t teach our children to make their own decisions and not to depend on or let the opinions of Will Ferrell, The Dixie Chicks, George Clooney, Sheryl Crow, etc. manipulate their own opinions. I’m sure a lot of people say The Dixie Chicks don’t like George Bush so I’m not voting for him, these are the same people that couldn’t tell you what the Vice Presidents name is. Jay Leno proved that on his show with his street questions and theirs a large portion of the population that don’t know a lot of basic things that everyone in this country should know. So I guess if I disliked everyone that had a political opinion that I didn’t agree with I would just stop watching television and listening to the radio because I don’t agree with any of them. But Will Ferrell is funny sometimes you have to admit if you watched him. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

In my book Will Ferrell isnt the least bit funny. I am unaware of his political views, but I can tell you his movies are just BORING! I do not find SNL entertaining one bit. Will Ferrell is a comedic dud in my opinion.

I would like to defend Will Ferrell here, but he probably is an idiot.
Most every time someone in hollywood opens there mouth I almost always come to the same conclusion.
So maybe the "role" he is playing just comes natural to him? MH

I have a Brother who lives and works right in the midst of the Hollywood scene. We have talked on occassion about the people at issue here (Hollywood Stars). He points out that that industry is chocked full of people who on the surface want to appear intelligent but their reality is far from it.

When these peoples background are delved into you will find that the vast majority of the "stars" that are in the political limelight never finished high school or dropped out of college. They survive only on their ability to act like someone else. Some are extremely good at it.

To the average person on the street(those who can't even name the Vice President), these "actors" appear credible and "intelligent". Essentially what the actors end up doing is putting on one of their best performances trying to convince the public that they should be respected for their political views because they are "intelligent" people.

Not finishing High school or dropping out of college doesn't automatically mean that person is slated to be a failure in the game of life though because there are many examples of the exact opposite, my father is one example.

Ronald Reagan would be an example of the fact that not all Actors are idiots also.

These hollywood types are entitled to their beliefs and their right to free speech. The fact that so many have a venue larger than you or I will ever have to express those beliefs is one of the "negatives" that we have to put up with in our society.

The simplist way that you or I can object is to not make them richer with our entertainment dollars. My movie going is not near what it used to be. I do not go see many movies because of who stars in them. Some of you may want to debate the effectivness of that approach but I do it on principle alone for my comfort with me and only me.

I turn to another channel, I do not buy albums, I do not rent videos or do a variety of other things that furthers the careers of those people. If enough people stand up on that principle, eventually it does make a statment to those "idiots". I can not stand Tom Cruise. He lost me on the Scientologist tirade about Brook Shields. I was a big fan of the Mission Impossible series....but no more. Evidently many others took the same stand on his latest MI movie because it sufferred at the box office if I remember correctly.

Sean Penn is an incredible actor but I refuse to see any more of his films. Even my politically conservative brother could not talk me into seeing his latest Oscar caliber performance.

I am not aware of what Will Ferrell has said politically recently but if it is in the tradition of the others I have mentioned then it will not be as hard for me to boycott his films because I do not go to his movies anyway. He has some moments of comedic brillance but I tire quickly of that stuff when it is beat to death in the movie format. The same for a whole slew of SNL comedians.

GS ,i couldn't agree more !!

My opinion of 'the hollywood type' is if you don't have a liberal modern democrat mentality you'll be short lived in hollywood.

I saw a program on A&E w/ Bill Kurtis called hollywood ,jews and the american dream.
It showed the background of many actors ,the casting couch -how women win a role in a movie etc.
Also showed the first award shows -oscars ? i think- they all dressed up in tuxedos and filmed one limosine bringing them to the red carpet.Pictures were being snapped left and right. Then inside the -show- they gave each other elegant looking trophies and made speechs just like they do today and the vast majority of people in america worship them.

Starred in the following movies, "A Night at the Roxbury" which I believe was one of his very first movies, "Austin Powers", "Old School", "Anchorman", "Wedding Crashers" and many more. These were the more 'popular' ones.

Gawd, I am just glad that there are some others out there that find Ferrell a mind-numbing hack of a comedian. I am unable to come up with a single role he has done that he added anything to. The closest may have been in Zoolander but it had more to do with the hair. By the way, my dislike of WF is legendary, to the point of people at work pitching in to buy me a "Best of Will Ferrell" DVD (remains unopened).
