Will Ferrell

The commercials where he's screaming at the TV are so bad we hit mute until they're over. I can't say the guy does much for me.

I was forced to sit thru Anchorman. That was more than enough for me. To each his own. I even heard that some people actually liked movies like "Dumb and Dumber". /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused1.gif

There's funny, there's stupid, and then there's pathetic. I don't waste my time with movies that fall into the last two catagories.

well I have to do it, I have to chime in... I love the guy. I know that may lower me in the ranks here(if I can go any lower?? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif) but I think he is one of the funniest guys going. Not standup mind you, but just in general. Its a different kind of humor, and like Tom said, to each his own. And no offense to anyone, but I think its the under 30 crowd that enjoys his work the most. And no, not all of us are dope smoking ignorant idiots! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smiliesmack.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Well you're right about that. My son (16) thinks he's great. The goofier and more sub-human the character is, the more he likes it. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused1.gif Personally, I don't care for movies with self-deprecating male characters, either for laughs or drama.

GS ,i couldn't agree more !!

My opinion of 'the hollywood type' is if you don't have a liberal modern democrat mentality you'll be short lived in hollywood.

There's a few notable exceptions. James Woods comes to mind. But for the most part, I think you're right. Although, i wonder if there aren't more non-libs than we think. It seems like a lot of them just don't make it an issue. They're also not the ones usually that are showing up on every talk show they can get booked on, or on those self-promoting hollywood crap-factory shows like Extra. Seems to me, the smart actors, few that there may be, never wear it on their sleeve.

As far as Will Ferrell goes, I think he is genuinely funny at times. SNL has been in the crapper since Dana Carvey, Mike Meyers and John Lovitz left. Even towards the end of the Mike Myers era much of it was unwatchable IMO. Every once in a while, if I'm flipping through the channels late on a Saturday night, I'll catch something on SNL that makes me laugh a little, but it's about as rare as hen's teeth. Ferrell was great in "The Producers" I thought, among others.

I think Will Ferrell is hilarious, aside from the movie "Elf", i think the movies he's been in were pretty funny, everyone has a different sense of humor though.

No joke, who is Will Ferrel?

That's what I was wondering Greg. It surprised me that he is apparently "big" enough to elicit such debate, and I don't have a clue as to who he is.

Starred in the following movies, "A Night at the Roxbury" which I believe was one of his very first movies, "Austin Powers", "Old School", "Anchorman", "Wedding Crashers" and many more. These were the more 'popular' ones.

Didn't help a bit. "Austin Powers" is the only one of those I've heard of, but I thought that was the "Shrek" guy, Mike Myers.

I tend to agree with soreloser. I never heard of Well Ferrell because I don't follow the Hollywood types. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif I'd rather go fishing or hunting. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif You know, doing something in life that's real. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif

Hes not my fav, but I am finding myself looking forward to Talledega Nights.

I think hes the type of comic that would go well as part of a team rather than just by himself.

I really could care less about an actors political view.
I dont look to Will Farrel for political enlightenment any more than I would look to CNN for entertainment.

i cant stand SNL, way WAY too many homo references for my liking, and i think will ferrel is a moron too. and im in the under 30 category! acting like a total dumb@&% is sposed to be funny? since when? but thats just my opinion

You hit the nail on the head. My fear with Talledaga Nights is that it will end up as a movie that had great potential but ruined by this jackass. The upside to the whole thing is that I can continue to save money by not going to the theater.

My rule of thumb is to not watch the following movies -

1) No movie with bad actor/actresses (Ferrel, Jennifer Aniston, etc.)
2) No sequels (there are some exceptions to this like Star Wars)
3) No movies based on TV shows like Dukes of Hazzard, Bewitched (wasn't Ferrel in that one?) Honeymooners.

If I just took 20 bucks and set it aside everytime I didn't go to the movies when I normally would have I would be owning a Forster Co-Ax.

I really don't like Ferrel but my girlfriend drug me to Talladega Nights and I laugh my butt of. There are more than a few subtle jabs at conservatives but many people wouldn't catch them. This is the only movie that I have found him to be funny in though.

I have not heard of any of those movies either. I watch no TV and rarely go to a movie theater. I spend all my spare time either in the mountains or with family.

I would watch the movie because it seems to make fun of nascar. I feel the racing circuts are wasting too much of our fuel. I think it is a poor way to advertise your product. Any one know how many gallons of fuel and gas are wasted going to watch or take part in all of the races in America? It has to be a lot.T.20

Sorry I could'nt resist. I wonder how much fuel us hunters waste partaking in what we enjoy. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif I drive 300mi or more round trip most of the time at 12-17 mpg. Depending on how much time I spend off road it can be lower than 12 mpg. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Yah, but we normally don't drive rvs bigger than my house to the location, they get 4mpg? All the semi trucks, get 4-6mpg? Race cars, mileage? My Cummins gets 14 with the trailer, 20 empty, at 60 mph, that is why I am selling my Chevy Durapig, it gets 14-17mpg at 60 mph. T.20
