will fmj{Full Metal Jacket} harm the rifleing in the barrel?

It is a copper jacket like most other bullets and will cause no more wear than other copper jacketed bullets. However the FMJ bullets are the cheapest, poorest quality control, and most inaccurate bullets you can buy.

Ditto!!
I've been load developing for a 222, 22 BR and a 22-250 the last couple of weeks. So, I loaded up some FMJ bullets to sight in and use as fouling shots. They are the most inaccurate bullets I ever shot, bar none.. Yech..

Double ditto. On the other hand both Hornady and Sierra make these in thirty caliber, and their production may be a bit better, if they are intended solely for the civilian market. This also includes the 6mm/.243 FMJ bullets they make for hide hunting. The ones meant for the military are pretty sorry, especially past 100 yards. Still fun for your M1 though.
