Just bought a Like NIB. Win. 94ae 44 mag. I think I got a pretty good deal on it, hoping I didn't get burned. I paid
$450. Tell me how you think I did. I got it off an older gentleman that I've known for a very long time, He claims 2 rounds down the bbl, and I believe him, The gun looks to be mint.

Far price for buyer and seller. You might have gotten the slightly better end of the deal. Great open sight hunting rifle. I have Marlin's in handgun cartridge rifles, but I like the Winchester as well. My RF levers are Winchester's. As well as my CF's.

You do not see alot of the Winchester's like the one you bought. They bring a bit of a premium.

What is the barrel length?? Tom.

I believe that barrel length would make it a Trapper model?? Someone please correct me if I am wrong?? That makes it an even better deal if it is a Trapper. Tom.

Congrats Gary!
Like others have already said, I have always wanted a 44 mag lever rifle too.
Just never got one yet.
Let us know how it shoots when you get that far.

Yeah. Set em at 50. At 100 with a 50 yd zero, aim at the top of their back and watch em flop. 240 gr XTP. My recommendation.

The 44 magnum in a rifle is a whole lot more than a 50 yard rifle. Or at least it is IMO. I usually sight my open sighted 44 magnum or 45 Colt about 1 to 2 inches high at 100 and hold dead on out to about 125 or so. And those two cartridges are extremely effective at those ranges. Tom.

As you can tell, Im not only new to the 44mag, Im new to lever guns so Im going into this blind....I have no problem breaking clays at 100 with an open sight .22 so Ill try it out.

Thanks for the ballistic chart Shane

GetFoxy you need to keep in mind that the above trajectory table is for revolver velocity. Not rifle velocity. Keep in mind you have a short barreled rifle. But the velocity will still be substantially higher than in a revolver. Approx. 30% to 50% more velocity. You could easily be looking at 1600 to 1800 fps in your rifle. That is a whole lot more speed and power.

A revolver cartridge in a rifle is a whole other beast than when it is shot in a revolver. Check for rifle ballistics, not revolver ballistics. Tom.
