Winchester Bipod from walmart 9-13"

I recently purchased the cheap 9-13" bipod at walmart that is Winchester branded. I paid $43 including tax ($40 before tax). I know many of ye fellow hunters and walmart shoppers have been eyeballing them. Well im here to say: dont get one. I guess for what it is it is ok but the main reason i will be returning mine is because the legs do not have the springs that retract them from the extended position when unlocked. Other than that, i just dont see the quality i expect for $43. For only 3 dollars more, i just ordered a 9-13" Caldwell XLA bipod which i already know is a quality bipod. Not only does this bipod have the spring retract, but the legs have notches at one inch intervals to lock onto. So im here to say, if you've been looking at a Winchester bipod at walmart, save 3 bucks more and get yourself a quality bipod, you and your rifle deserve it.
 
glad my experience was able to help you. Its not that its really that bad, its just that you can a much better bipod for the same price if you have the patience for shipping.
 
Ummm, hope you have good luck with the Caldwell.

I know 3 guys that didn't. Seemed to be right on par with the Winchester from what I saw.

Harris is the way to go in that type of bipod.
 
honestly, the winchester wasnt that crappy, however, i was expecting the spring loaded legs. The caldwell has spring loaded legs and the legs are also notched, as long as these features are there, and as long the rest of it is worse than the winchester, i'll be happy with it. I'd love a harris but i really cant afford one.
 
I've tried all the cheap ones. Thankfully, I tried em all on others rigs.the only one I purchased was the winchester one. I won't buy another cheap bipod.

Save your pennies until the Harris is available.
 
Buy once, cry once. I dont use a bipod hardly at all anymore except at the range and even then i use my bag more than the bipod. If you wait and check the classifieds or even post a WTB, you can find them for 45-50 bucks. A guy on 24hr campfire was selling 3 Harris for 45 each yesterday. The best thing about buying quality equipment that is used is that you rarely lose any money should you decide to sell it in the future.
