Winchester model 670 vs. Remington 700

In 1978 I bought a winchester .30/06 model 670 from Kmart for $135.00. I didn't know about the pre '64 thing. Though a field rifle and none too pretty, it is a real shooter. In those days, the Remington 700 BDL was heavily advertised and was mine and all my friends' dream gun. I just couldn't afford one as a 16 year old working at minimum wage around 3 dollars an hour. However, every time I go out shooting with buddies who have the Rem. 700, I can easily outshoot them, making me glad that I ended up with the gun I have. Is this comparison between these two rifles standard or do I just have a lot of friends who can't shoot?

If I remember correctly the 670 was kind of a cheaper version of model 70. I think it would boil down to who's the better shooter and which rifles were tweaked a little bit and had better care and also which gun had a better rifle-ammo match. Just my thoughts. Dave
