I have an opportunity to buy a NIB Winchester super x2 3.5" chambered gun, black synthetic stock 24" barrel turkey gun.

I have no intentions of shooting anything bigger than 3" loads in a 12 gauge,

but what are your thoughts on this particular shotgun as a dual purpose turkey and predator shotgun for slinging buckshot and dead coyote loads and predators?

durability and reliability?

Thanks

should be pretty dang good. The short barrel will be quick handling. certainly the gun is known for being a hard working reliable workhorse. I think it has screw in gas valves so it should shoot light or heavy loads. They are kind of heavy but thats good for recoil.

The sx3 is what I plan to make into my go to predator shotgun but its going to be a while till I can afford it.

I have both X2 and X3.

I ran the X2 for a long time, last 3-4 years and it's been a [beeep] fine shotgun. I have 3" magnum X2 w/a 26" ventrib and a 22" cantilever slug barrel. Everything I've put through this shotgun has feed extremely well (skeet loads to my duck/goose loads.) My slug barrel is accurate with everything I've tried, I rarely use it though.

If the price is right, I'd snatch that X2 up.

This past Oct, I picked up a X3 with mossyoak DB camo. I love this shotgun. Very sleek and light weight. If you compare the X2 to the X3, the X2 is a little heavier/fatter in some areas. The X3 feels a lot better in my hands and shoulders better for me.

I bought both of my X2 & X3 USED. Both guns were spotless and didn't appear to have have many rounds through them.

I have a SX2 and love it. I've killed bunches of ducks, geese, huns, chukar and quail with it plus it does double duty as my coyote gun. I've gotten a couple of dozen coyotes with it. I use a Dead Coyote choke and #4 buck for the coyotes.

I got one on clearance a few years back at Gander Mountain, NTWF version, they were giving them away. It's been my favorite shotgun, great for turkeys. I switched the choke over to a comp-n-choke for turkeys. I like to hit the birds with the 3 1/2" stuff. I'd grab the gun if the price is right.

well I found a decent used one with 28" barrel for 300 less than what they wanted for the new one. It's in decent shape, been used but not abused... that's good since I won't be mad at myself since the first scratches are on it already.

will see how it behaves itself.

I have a SX2 and like it a lot. Got it to hunt waterfowl and it has performed flawlessly. I've shot everything from 1-1/8 oz. trap loads all the way up the 3-1/2" goose loads with not one malfunction. I will be using it for coyotes next year even with a 28" barrel. I have a Bennelli Nova turkey gun but recoil with the magnum loads is punishing while the SX2 is very tolerable. I've seen them on Gunbrokers for about $500 bucks, what can you get this one for? If you can get a good deal, buy it.

Not bad, if it's local you will avoid any FFL transfer fees and if it's a private seller, no sales tax. Offer $425 and see if he'll come down, he might at least split the difference, can't hurt to try.

My dad has a SX2 and loves it. Its the same one your talking about with the black stock. He shot his first coyote with it and has taken several turkey with it over the years he has had it. Thats a great price, he paid over $700 for his.
