Winter apparel recommendation

After last year and this cold stretch this weekend, I am finally able to make a recommendation on some winter hunting clothes. At the beginning of last season I bought a nice combo of a winter hunting jacket and bibs from Redhead. They promise to keep you bone dry and warm in extreme temps. Well I very rarely say this anymore but they are completely worth the money. For those who don't know me I hunt out in Eastern Montana and it can get pretty cold. Likewise, I have to prone out in the snow a lot in my set ups because there is seldom a tree around to use. So these things have been rolled in the snow and I have stayed warm and dry the whole time. The only thing bad about them is the hood. It is just way too small. Otherwise, five stars. Burt here had no complaints about the camo pattern.

Sorry, I am a lousy photo taker. Also I rarely take a photo of myself. Here is a photo from last year. It is the best image I have of the camo pattern. Around here it seems the best camo pattern is heavy on the white, with a little breakup for the tips of the grass or sage coming up through the snow.

Speaking of snow camo, we had a thread awhile back on what canine's can see, and it appears they see shades of gray, black and white, but not color, at least like humans see color.

One comment was from a guy that trains bird dogs, and he said the dogs can spot a white training bumper on snow, whereas the dogs will run over the top of blaze orange bumpers.

So, this year, if we get the snow where I hunt, I am going to wear the blaze orange I use for big game.
 
' I am going to wear the blaze orange I use for big game." Good luck with that! Plain white should work fine for snow, any pattern would be so small as it would not be noticed, by dogs. People have better recognition capabilities.
Edit: snow has a different reflection characteristic that 'painted' cloth - or rabbits. We are big but @100 yds you need a lot of contrast and motion for a dog to see you. They can see/hear/smell better than humans BUT we don't know what triggers danger to them - don't know why they stop. Or why they want to go downwind. Let's compare it to deer season. Do deer disappear during hunting season or is hunting season chosen for a time when they just hide more? Why these comments? Don't get people and animals mixed up.

I should add that I normally hunt Eastern Colorado, which is very, very wide open, and many times after 6-10" snowfall, all you see is one single blade of grass here, another one 20ft over there, and so on.

I don't think I would set up wearing blaze orange in taller Sage Brush. I think there would be too much contrast between the 'dark' Sage Brush and the 'light' blaze orange, and any movement I make in the Sage would be easier to spot.

I will report on how it works out though, lol.
 
I have read coyote eyes contain one type of cone photoreceptors(green), the small amount allows for green/yellow vision and is why their visual acuity is excellent. The rods in the eye are for light sensitivity and shape vision in low light.
I treat my camo and whites with UV blocker. Reduces the "glare"( blues and green) which is more prevalent with snow cover.

Is it hard to see coyotes when you are upside down on stand???
