wireless remote for Phantom, or?

I found a supply of the wireless microphone systems used on the Dennis Kirk calls. It's a Azden model WLXPRO wireless mic for use with video cameras. You plug in the speaker from your Phantom into the receiver, plug the Phantom unit into the transmitter and you have a wireless Phantom. Good for over 250 feet, I know i have used mine over that easy

Or you you can plug in any speaker into the receiver and plug in any type of sound system into the transmitter an have a system of your choice Tape, CD, Digital.

I'm playing with the ability to record my own sounds or sounds off of tapes, on to a Radio Shack 90 minute digital recorder. If I can get it to record clear then there is no reason a guy can't have a library of 90 different one minute sound bites in the palm of his hand.

I think a guy can do it for under $250 in equipment, then your cost is to fill it with sounds, but if you already have a boat load of tapes or mouth calls around then it won't cost you much at all. I think a lot of us already have every thing but the wireless mic's laying around.

You can find or look at the Azden WLXPRO system at www.video-direct.com they quoted me a price of $145.00 for the unit.

I wonder if the "Azden WLX PRO" is what is on the Dennis Kirk callers?

Does anbody know if it is the same?

Wildoats,

I know in the first post you said that these were the same, but the reason I asked is because the DK is advertised to reach out to 250 yards!(the ad on these say 250 feet)

Can these do the same as the ones on the DK calls or are the DK's tweaked to a different spec. for more range?

If they can these are cheaper priced than any I have seen and would be a great deal!

Wildoats,if you are as great at hunting as you are creating and giving instructions then the yotes are in serious danger. I want to thank you for being kind enough to share your knowledge on constructing an inexpensive electronic caller. You are a genius and I am proud to be able to share the same sport with the likes of you and others who care for helping others. I was wondering if the Azden WLTPRO wireless @ $84.00 might not work as well as the Azden WLXPRO $146.00. I'm not familiar with electronics so was wondering what the difference was besides the $62.00. What is your opinion? Thanks for all your posts!!

wildoats,

Just wondering if you figured out the range of the Azden WLXPRO yet?

Let me know iffin you don't mind!

IF the things are the same as DK supplies with their call, well, they are great. The remote is ONE of the things that sold me on a Dennis Kirk caller.

I can put the call behind my house, go around in front, and control the caller, no problem.

I have used it as far as about 200 yards, line of sight, from one ridge to another. No problem. GREAT remote!!!

Allhowl,

Thanks, but i'm just trying to return that favor, and isn't that the idea behind these board, to share information with others who enjoy the same activities? I know i have benefited from the advise on this board on several subjects   I don't know about a serious danger to any coyotes but I know I've been one to myself on a few occasions,

I didn't see the other model you refereed to, I screwed up and ordered mine from some other outfit "paid $10 more" then found that one after mine was shipped ;-(   We ought to look at the spec's and see what the difference is? maybe distance? I just got the WLX-PRO the other day and it works well, I see it also comes with a 2 year warranty! NOw that is nice. I guess the microphone wire is part of the transmitters antenna, and they tell you in the directions to distance the transmitter as far away from the mike as the cord will allow. You don't use the mic in our application so I used a 6' long jack and hung the transmitter around my shoulders and held the walkman in my hand and I was abel to get close to a good 200 yards distance across a parking lot with it. I can see will put velcro on it and the left brest pocket of my cammos and velcro on the right knee, attaching the transmitter to the pocket running the wire around the shoulders and down to the walkman or phantom on my right knee, I don't' think it would ever get in the way.

NOt that i"ll ever use it at 200 yards range, Hell that would mean every coyote that hung up 200 on the other side of the call would be 400 yards away from me and safe. LOL If the other modle would give you a honest 75 yards then I would consider it strongly for the price difference

Allhowl,
Could you tell us where you found your remote unit for $84.00?

Good Hunting To Ya !!
Merle

Merl, Sorry but I put the correct price on the WLTPRO for $84. but it didn't have a receiver so it wasn't what I had wanted to compare the WLXPRO to. The one I looked at was the WHXPRO which I found out cost more than the WLXPRO ($166.) The link I found info on Azden was the one listed by wild oats. I do plan on building the above system described by wild oats but hope that he gets us a picture of his to see how it looks.

Is anybody using the WLXPRO from Azden on the Phantom yet??
Does it work?
Is the price $139.00 as quoted from their site?

Thanks for your time--

I have used it on mine an it works well. The wireless system seems to amplifie it so you need to turn the volume down a bit, but beyond that it works fine.

Wildoats,

Does the amplification cause a noticable increase in the volume control sensitivity? I have had the experience of adding an amp to a car stereo resulting in a very small adjustment of the volume knob resulting in a very large increase in output volume, making it very difficult to adjust the volume to a desired level. Was wondering if you experienced anything like this with your setup?

Cooper

Cooper,

I just tried my Phantom with the Azden wireless system and you will need to turn the volume down on the Phantom as low as it will go, with this system your lowest level volume will now be about equil with the factory reset level. Meaning the amount of volume you have when you turn your unit on.

hope this helps

Wildoats,

Yes this helps. But to further clarify, can you get the volume down low enough when you just want to coax them in closer?
