I posted this earlier in the wrong spot I think, new member /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smiliesmack.gif Could someone explain how to wire a 12v headlamp, say either a 5100 or rheohead from nite lite to my light force battery to where the headlamp shuts off when I turn on the scope light. The headlamp would be for scanning mostly and whats the best bulb? Pics would be great.

If im reading this correctly......

you need to get a Double power cord, it has 2 cig. Female socketts and 1 male plug-in, to plug into your battery bag so you can run the Scope Light or the head Light or both at the same time.........

We carry those.......

Thanks Rick, I have the double plug but seen a reply on an earlier post from Sullivt I think. He said his headlamp would turn off when the scope light is turned on? I'm still not sure which style headlamp to buy.

The head lamp I am using is the Nitelite extreme beltlight pro... it has a integrated circuit board to provide power to a headlamp and spotlight. This circuit board automatically cuts the power to the headlamp when the spotlight is turned on. I use the headlamp for panning for eyes

What I am using for my shooting light is LF 170 scope mount lamp. I got sick of carrying the 5 - 6 lb battery around so I configured my LF by changing the connector (two prong) so as to function with my NiteLite lamp. I only use the LF for final identification and shot.

I have the 21 volt light ... however, both outputs are 12v. The bulb on the headlamp is a 12v 35 watt bulb.

The battery with this unit only weights 2 lbs... you do not even know you are wearing it.

The lightforce bulb I have is the 12v 75 watt bulb... if running constant you will get about 40 - 45 minutes off the battery. If I switch it to a 35 watt bulb I should be able to extend it to a couple hours.

The high heat head lamp (5100) is pretty impressive in itself on the high setting. I would say the output is comperable to my handheld LF 140. For next year I am planning to build my own scope mountable light from one of these to use in place of the lightforce... the main benefit being a much smaller light.

Thanks again Sullivt, need Nite Lite have the connector to covert the LF over to fit their battery pack.Do you like the soft cap or hard hat for the head lamp? I tried on a soft cap and it kept falling in my face, Is it a way to help with this or just getting use to it the only problem? I like your idea of the scope light also, I had no idea those head lamps were so bright. Most of my shots are inside 100 yds anyway here in soutern Virginia.

I thought I had posted this yesterday but is not showing up.

1. I use a hard hat... did not like the soft cap. The
hard had is alot more comfortable.
2. To connect the LF to the NiteLite Extreme Pro:
a. I purchased the spare/replacement cable with the
two prong connector from huntsmarts web site. I
believe this is the replacment part for their
spotlight.
b. I then purchased some two prong type connectors and
installed them in cable for my LF ~1 ft below the
power switch for the lamp. These you can get at
you local autoparts store.
c. I also installed a two prong connector on the end
of the cable I purchased from huntsmart.

What the two prong connectors let me do is swap out
the ends/cables on the spotlight so as I can power it
different sources (i.e., LF battery pack, NiteLite
System, etc.)

If anyone want to see pictures I can post them.

That would be great to see some pics. I'm wanting to complete a new system before next season so I can work the bugs out and stop fumbling with stuff in the dark when I should be looking for critters! This site is great for sharing ideas as everyone seems willing to help. Thanks again.
