WOLF HUNTING IN IDAHO

the last time that it was that you could use only hand calls because they are under the big game rules /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smiliesmack.gif

Looks like the hunters win round one.
"Wolf hunting will start in Idaho this fall.Season starts Sept 1 runs thru March 1. Tags will cost 10.50$ Quota yet to be set." Source am 580 and am 670. I listen to Idaho radio, and heard numeruos reports on both stations thru out the day today. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ooo.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ooo.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ooo.gif

I am afraid it will take a lot longer to train a Hound for the Wolf than for the Wolf to end the Hounds career. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Am I wrong? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif

I have no interest in gettin a bunch of dogs killed.
I have freinds in Idaho that have had dogs killed,at the tree.
A mouth call, would be my choice for huntin them. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif

I for one would like to be in on one of those chases. I've also read some of the old stories.I don't know how much of them are "true".

Ya i know what you mean Duane. If it is true that would be cool to watch. Get vargy over there to try with his staghounds if he did i would keep them close so if they started to lose start shooting them wolves.

deerassassen: you would be better off training a pack of grizzly bears to hunt the land sharks out here as one wolf is about 2 1/2 hounds when it comes tine to start killen. some of our cat and bear hound guys have had there packs nearly wiped out by in near minutes, even when it was 2to 1 hounds to wolves /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused1.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/angry-smiley-055.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smiliesmack.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused1.gif

The Canadian Wolves that the Federal Government has imported into the "Greater Yellowstone Area," are one of the most effective killing machines on the planet.

As tempting as it is, the Coyote Hound men that I know won't even consider turning out, even a seasoned pack of the best hounds on one of these wolves.

There are some good ways to kill wolves, but none of the "good ones" involve dogs,(in my mind).
There maybe is somewhere a pack of dogs that could kill a,(1) wolf, but I don't know where.???

sure hope they allow nonresident to hunt wolves id love to come up to Idaho & hunt for them. ive hunted alot for deer, elk, moose but my main passion has been coyotes, & predators my best year was 134 coyotes by calling & trapping, a wolf would be freakin awsome, also i sympathize with you hound hunters, guys in northern Wisconsin are loosing dogs to wolves as well. might i suggest if snaring is legal where you live learn that technique since wolves travel the same routes as coyotes & snares are a very effective means of coyote control, alot of Alaskan trappers use them with great sucess not suggesting you set intentionally for wolves but oops i accidently caught a wolf, all, trappers, fisherman, waterfowlers, uplandgame hunters need to defend each other when one of our brothers or sisters come under attack from the antis, united we stand strong but divided they conquer us one by one. ENOUGH SAID
