ERHARD, Minn. - Authorities said a woman stabbed a pit bull that got into her house and attacked her cat.
The Otter Tail County sheriff's office said the woman's daughter and a friend were walking into the house on Wednesday evening when the neighborhood dog made it past them and got into the home.
The dog went into a back room and found the cat. While the pit bull was attacking the cat, authorities said the woman started stabbing the dog with a knife to get it to stop.
The dog ran out of the house. The cat later died.
Sheriff Brian Schlueter said the dog was stabbed in the hindquarters and its owner said it did not require medical attention.
The sheriff's office was investigating the incident, Schlueter said.

way to go, what a worthless dog breed. sorry if you own one, I just think stuff like this happens and deserves the stabbing. otherwise you can't manhandle one without force or weapon, without losing a limb yourself.

I will start out by saying that I do not own a Pitbull and I agree 100% with what the woman did to try and save her cat(even though I don't like cats). Where I differ is where people get down on a breed of dog. As you see in my avatar my wife and I have Rott's and we love them just like they are our kids. I have some friends that have Pit's and they are nothing but gentle. I beleive that it is in all how you bring these breeds up from puppies. We have always had our Rott's around people and kids of all ages from day one. We have an 8 week old little girl and she will always have a Rottie by her side. My wife has been "attacked" by 2 dogs a Shi-tsu and a Dauchsund. The POS weiner dog sent her to the hospital for stitches in her hand. The hospital said they have more bite wounds from smaller dogs there but if it was a "vicious" dog they would have had to call the dog warden. Just the thoughts and opinions from a family that will always have Rott's and would raise a Pitbull puppy to join this family. Nothing like talking dog's first thing in the morning.

It's true that some smaller dogs bite more often. The difference is that Rotts and Pitts bite more seriously. A lab, for example, typically bites and then quits. A rottie or pitt bites and then bites some more. And, based just on their strength those attacks suddenly become quite serious.

Well that little weiner dog didn't let go of her. I like Labs, and would love to have one now that we have the pond, but a friend of mine had to put his down because it bit his boy. I will not disagree that the bigger dogs are stronger but they do not warrant the negative press that they get. Actually I have owned 2 "vicious" dogs a Walker and a Cur. Both were great hunting dogs. The Walker would only let 2 of us handle him and the Cur was only going to let me get him out of his kennel. Actually that cur got out of his kennel one day and went after my Mom when she was down helping my wife and I after I had ahernia surgery. You know who stepped in and took the beating? It was our 1 1/2 year old Rott "Tank". Tank got between my Mom and that Cur and got bit quite a few times before my wife and I could get there. Our Rott never went into "attack" mode just kept that Cur from getting back at my Mom. I guess you can see that I am a little partial to these bigger dogs but I firmly beleive that these dogs do not deserve all the negative press that they get. How about some of these owners take responsibility no matter what dog they have?

I won't argue that owners bear the brunt of the responsibility in these cases. I was just stating facts about the breeds. They can be extremely dangerous.

A plastic toy knife is more predictable.
Here is another post I just made about a pitt bull attack.
It's interesting to note that one minute the dog was being petted by a neighborhood girl and then suddenly it went after the guy.
Hitman, no offense intended.
I'm not trying to put down the breeed, but they are what they are.
That's what scares me about pitt bulls...unpredictable.
I don't trust my kids around any breed of dog.

All I know is this, a pointer points game, a springer flushes game, a lab retrieves game, German shepards are great guard dogs, and rat terriers are hell n rats, why is it so strange to find that a fighting dog will bite. It seems so srtange to me to see fighting dog owners jump to their defence whenever the dog does what it's bread to do. I'm a firm believer that a dogs internal code of conduct is written it's genes.

A Rot is not a pit bull, when they go off it's more of a horrible oddity due to their strength. We all need to thank god or the animals origional breeders for their general (accross the breed)gentleness. The problem is, when they go bad their strength is something to reccon with.
