wondering about coyote pee cover scent ?

GC, We had two cans in each sock, one sock on the back of the truck and one can on the front of the truck.

It is a HUGE help as an attractant.

If you get into foxes when you are using the sardines, you can not believe how effective it is.

Once in Mexico, we got tired of shooting foxes. We made the decision to give them a break because we coulld only carry 50 rounds of ammo per gun into the country, limit of 2 guns on each gun permit. Foxes got a pass. We had foxes following us down the road from one stand to another as we made stands about 1-1/2 miles apart. One finally ate the sock off the back of the truck.

Two cans of Sardines in a sock will increase your odds on call wise yotes...don't knock it until you try it! This is one of those things that is so simple that it is stupid! An old trapper taught me this trick.
 
Sardines have long been a trapping lure, but I just don't have faith in "cover" or "attractant" scents as it applies to calling coyotes. I think you smell like a guy with sardines in your socks... which is weird to a coyote. And probably everybody else too... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-006.gif
 
I've heard of guys smoking cigars while on stand. Supposedly it covers up the human scent and the smoke doesn't spook the coyotes. I don't know about all of this and have never tried it, just found it to be interesting.
 
I saw a dear (doe) eat a big cigar butt, that the guy was using as a cover.
He had it sitting on a post not far from him. We had buck tags.
He said it happens all the time. I would have not believed it if I had
not seen it...

I know a goat will tear your pocket off to get to a bag of redman.
I have seen dogs eat a discarded plug of tobacco. (dog/coyote) hummmm
I can smoke it but chew NO THANKS Good cover or not.
 
for all of you that have extra bottles of coyote urine laying around not getting used, it works great on your landscape plants to keep the deer off. But don't apply it on windy days, cuz when it flies back in your face, it's really nasty. just my .02
