you need on a trap for coyotes and why? Why isn't one enough? it seems with multiple swivels, a shock spring it's getting real crowded in the trap bed......

dig a deeper trap bed.

on my K9 traps, I have, D-ring, swivel, 1 chainlink, swivel, 3 chainlinks, swivel, then cable for earth anchor, you need at least 3 swivels from trap to anchor. I like to short chain them and I don't use a spring. if they cant get on their back legs they cant pump the trap out, or do anything for that matter other then stand or lay there

alot of times, I will dig out the center of the trapbed for the swivels and chain to lay in. then pack dirt or peat around the trap. alot of times you can lay the loose jaw on the swivels/chain and it will help make it solid. good luck and happy trapping.

24 hr check 1 swivel is fine. I like 3 with 18 inch of chain or drag. The reason for 3 because 1 can foul and the other operate and let the trap spin with out animal doing harm to leg. BMP.

personal preference...on my new Bridger #2 OS....I don't like the in line swivel right up against the d ring....I cut that j hook, cut the chain in two, flip the swivel and move it to the outside of the baseplate where I can bed the trap better....then I use a quick link to attach a 12" or 15" duckbill cable stake to the chain. I drive the stake into the gound until the quick link is buried. that way I can short chain my yotes....and still have two swivels on the trap..I have had very good success with the duckbills...and to chew the cable in two, the yote will have to dig it up....I don't leave em in the trap that long......what y'all say.

Since you are on a 24 hr. check there would be no problem with 1 or 2 swivels. I run 3 swivels and a shock spring that has 2 more swivel points but I'm running 72 hr. checks. All my traps are center swiveled as when you come off the side you get pullouts with toe caught coyotes as they can slide there foot to the side.

I'm just using stock Duke 1.5 cs and have had some bone breakage on a couple catches. Namely a coon on the hind foot and a gray on the front foot. Both broken above the jaws so it wasn't the jaws. The stock traps have one at the trap itself and one at the end of the chain. I'm going to upgrade them with a better one at the trap and add one in the middle. The one at the end of the chain is the better design. So that would be three.
