would you build on a mauser 98 action?

I collect Mauser rifles. My specific areas of interest are pre-1939 Erma's and South American m98's.

The problem I have highlighted in bold is that nowadays MANY have it up their bums that reloading manuals are all written down by 15% and so these yahoo's are loading way too hot. Just because their plastic Remchester didn't blow up, or they don't have primers falling out, they keep loading up.

I wouldn't spend the money to re-heat treat any action made by Brno or any k98; they are fine. The pre-WWII actions will be good for low intensity cartridges if loaded with common sense.

I used to think that... until I couldn't find my rifle.

This is true, if it were true. Common sense isn't common and reloading manuals go to 55K PSI and so do people. Again, I'd have it rehardend. Adam
