My Luck must be changing. I've been buying raffle tickets for many years and never won anything till tonight. The local volunteer fire department was celebrating their 100th anniversary and raffling off four of these specially engraved Henry Golden Boys. I got the last one drawn at the end of the Fireman's Ball. How about that?

Hey,,, That is cool...

I'm like you in that I seldom win anything,,, but about ten years ago I won a Savage 12BV 223 at the RMEF dinner in Elko Nv.. I figure that after all the years of buying raffle tickets at various events I had about forty grand it that rifle... lol

Congrats on the Henry.. And by all means post a pic..
Thanks
Charlie

I went over to my buddy's house to see the new Henry. He is the guy on the fire department that was handling the raffle. He is also a former chief of the department. It turns out the engraving was just in the wood butt stock and not all that impressive to a guy not associated with the fire department. It was marked (Gettysburg, SD Fire Department 100th Anniversary 1 of 4) It was obvious that he wanted it way more than I did. He offered me the same gun NIB, less the wood engraving, plus the cost of the engraving. I didn't think I would use the 17 caliber that often so the cash seemed more appealing. Since he is always taking me P-Dog hunting, I didn't feel right about taking advantage of him. I took the retail price of the Henry plus the engraving cost and we took off to shoot some pheasants.

Good decision, since there are no Cape Buffalo or Lions in your part of SD you don't need a rifle with that much knock down power.

Sounds like a win-win Jim. Sorry, forgot to take your phone # along to catch up with you when we were out the other week. We had a great time. Great weather, lots of pheasants and good hospitatlity. The Firehouse steaks were dang good too.

Sorry I missed you. I can't believe the weather all November.

If you thought the Firehouse had good steaks, try Bob's Steak House at Whitlock Bay next time you come back here. The Super Club at South Whitlock is pretty fair too.

Bob's has always been my favorite, but the steak I had there this time was nothing compared to the Firehouse for some reason? What I didn't get this trip out was a good walleye dinner. Maybe next time...
