Wv hunting law

I will help try to get more reasonable regs . In the meantime ,
I travel my farm with a 7mag locked and loaded on my tractor or
in my pickup for the protection of my livestock . 235 acres/2 miles across/fields and woods .Any possum cop that wishes to take issue with that can either get his yotes off my land or see me in court .
In the last 3 years all grounghogs , possums , skunks , red and gray foxes have dissappeared . White tail fawn crop is down
by half on my place .
Two active , growing packs on either side of me . 70 lb calf on a bait pile lasted 48 hrs .
Anyone that wants to help out that can shoot from 250yds to a
grand+ over open fields is welcome to contact me here .

I told him how I do it and he didn't have an issue. I think it will be up to the guy who stops you. Talk to your local, odds are good that's who will stop you anyway.

Am I right in that you cannot hunt coyotes at night in wv from August 1st to December 31st???

I am beginning to think at there is actually a coyote or two working on the wildlife council in west Virginia.......
I went to the DNR meeting at Glen Dale tonight and I was told that changes are waiting on the Governor signature the changes for coyote are.....
1. Any color light..........
2. 22 center fire rifle...........
3. And fox included...........
4. Change in the size shot he thought to no. 2........
Uncased gun in the woods is still a no no, that would be difficult to change.
Changes are there just waiting to be made law.

I heard similar info at the Parkersburg meeting on the 13th.
I attended the DNR meeting Tuesday evening March 13 here in Parkersburg. One of the DNR guys told me that rules 1. and 2. that I posted about above
1. "allow the hunting of approved widlife species at night with a pistol, revolver or rifle up to a .22 caliber centerfire and shotguns using shot shells of #2 shot or smaller." Currently we are limited to .22 rimfire and #4 shot or smaller??
2. "allow the use of any artificial light for hunting at night for raccoon, skunk, oppossum, coyote and fox." Currently we are limited to the use of red, green or amber lights and fox are not legal to be hunted at night.
have been changed and approved by the legislature just recently. We have to wait til they are published in the regulations brochure before we will be safe following the new changes.
Still no movement on number 3.
3. "During closed small game season, coyotes may only be hunted in open fields. Guns must be cased while being transported to and from the open field." "I would like to suggest removing the restriction for hunting coyotes only in open fields when no small game seasons are in. As an avid coyote caller it is very difficult to call coyotes into open fields in the daytime. It would help if we could hunt them in the woods and thickets where they are most comfortable."
Several people at the meeting supported the number 3 change. We will just have to keep trying I guess!

Baby steps. I will be really happy if they let us go center fire year round. What color lights are everyone wanting to use? They list the three I know of.
