WW-VI is happening!

......... with 20% chance of T-storms today, tomorrow, and Thursday. They'll be out wallowing in the sunshine on Saturday! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ooo.gif

Weather should be good. Been raining almost everyday but they are just passing thunderstorms. Got to expect those in the Rockies this time of year. Might even be welcome to get some cloud cover and some cooling after a hot day in the sun.

16 sounds like a good number. I should have things squared away as far as a camping area on the ranch by tomorrow. Looks like the Fly and NASA are the only two bunking at my place. Did I miss anyone? You guys need to bring a cot or an airmattress to sleep on. Otherwise there is tons of room.

Frijoles Pintos are cooking. Been in the crock pot since 8:30AM.

Do you need me to bring my shovel again....or have you got your own?

Just visited the ranch. Well over 9000 acres, much of it full of prairie dogs. There is about 10 different pastures we can hunt so plenty of room for everyone. A word of caution for anyone planning on bringing a BIG camper. The camp site is a ways from the blacktop and while it is not a nasty road, it is rough in places. I could easily get my 24' Arctic Fox in there but it does have decent ground clearance. Pop up campers and tent dwellers will have no problem and will have shooting opportunities right out your front door. Very nice camp sight as well with trees.

Guys have fun, shoots a few for me, and drive safely!

I will be thinking about you bastards... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

I hope no one is planning on sleeping in then, 'cause I'm naturally an early riser! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

We'll shoot a few for ya Gander! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif

Anything else need to be packed. Plastic wear, trash bags, lattern, another grill, ? anything or any of the above?

Should have added the rancher has no issues with ATV's and if you got em, bring em. It will simplify getting around especially if you dont mind shooting from the ground, prone off a mat. Also, the camp sight has established fire rings and as long as its done responsibly and with common sense, fire is ok. Any wind and I would not recommend it. Man, did I see alot of prairie dogs. Some are more concentrated than others but there was plenty of targets. You long range guys should have a couple of places where you can shoot a longggggggggg way.

ALL RIGHT!

Have most everything packed. I'll do grocery shopping in the morning and then I'm good to go. I have seven rifles cased and ready, plus the requisite ammo.

I have to get through two meetings in Ft Collins tomorrow and then I'm officially on the way. Should be in Casper by 7:30P +/-. Turn the crank on the pop up and pour a glass of grape juice (maybe not in that order) and life will be good.

See you all there!

I ran out of AA2230 tonight!!! I gotta run down to sportsman and get a pound or two, and finish up reloading.

Starting to think 900ish rounds of 223 wont be enough. What do you guys think ?

Hey Fly, wish you were closer. I've got 10-12 lbs. of 2230 parked in the basement.

I hope your estimate of 900 rds. is grossly short!

Fly
I read your comment after you posted it AROUND MIDNIGHT.
I couldnt sleep for some reason.....Oh yea its now 5am and we are leaving for Casper in an hour /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Being the kind of person I am.......I went into the garage after reading it and claimbusters post rolled off another 200 rounds on the dillon before going back to bed at 1:30am, That brings me to 3 rifles and around 1200 rounds of ammo...plus rimfires for the close ones.

We are rollin out shortly, everybody drive safe and we will see ya up there /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif

Damnit, sportsman only has a pound in stock! GRRRRRR!

I'm going to have to do something I DON'T want to do. I've been using Ramshot Tac for my 55gr FMJ practice loads, and have 25# of it on hand. I'm going to load a batch of Noslers with it, even though I've never used Tac with the Noslers before. Max Charge is 27.5gr according to Ramshot, so I'll do 26.5 for safety's sake, and hope that it hits close enough to where my 2230 load is sighted in for.

Does anyone here use Tac for their 223 varmint loads, and if so, whats your load data? I'd feel better if I could get some real world feed back in addition to the load manual.

I'm also bringing up my 17hmr. I got well over 1k rounds for it, so if the shooting is just plain awesome, and I run out of 223, I'll still have something to use .

Good news....Sportsman had more powder then they thought. I should have around 1200-1400 rounds of 223 plus 1k worth of 17hmr.

Further weather update, saturday will be mid to high 70's, sunday low to mid 80's, with wind under 15mph.

NASA, I tried PM'ing you, you're over the limit. I was thanking you for driving me around while my truck was in the pooper, and the pork was REAL good too! I had a great time hunting with you and hope to do it again soon!

Everyone else: I had a great time meeting everyone and the weekend couldn't have been any better! Weather was perfect, shooting was GREAT and the company was good too!

We owe Wyosongdog a BIG ONE! THANK YOU! Tell the rancher thanks for me again, too!
