XG50 vs XP50 PRO

Out of these two which scope is better?

Is there a problem with the XG50? Why would they discontinue the XG50 after it was touted as their best scope for a year or so.
I thought that BAE sensor is the best.

Best is always questionable, just because something is better suited for me, doesn't necessarily mean it's going to be well suited for you. This is where a lot of info is misconstrued online. The tuff part is picking through the rubble.

The performance "gain" in the XG50 wasn't enough to upgrade to from an XP50 IMHO, I have also had numerous people tell me this that were direct customers.

BAE, TAU, BOSON, ULIS, MATRIX III, which is the "best"? I could literally run though each experience in great detail on the optics I've used with the above, and nit pick what I like better. But then again, Since I'm all about clarity, and performance in adverse conditions, all while obtaining footage to later expose it, that definitely doesn't mean it's going to suit others needs.

XG50
F1.1 lens
40mk
3x base mag
BAE

XP50 PRO
F1.0 lens
25mk
2x base mag
Lynred/Ulis

both are good units but IMO the XP50 PRO has more clarity then the XG50 currently sold does.......the XP50 PRO even when zoomed to 3 to match base mag to base mag is extremely close to the current XG50 clarity IMO...its the F1.0 lens the 25 mk and the new Lynred with the newest Pulsar firmware/algorithms that sets the XP50 apart from it......also the way i understand it Pulsar chose to use their own firmware and software to retain all the Pulsar functions with the BAE and this may have not gotten all the clarity out of the BAE it is capable of....who knows for sure as its over now unless u get a fire sale unit OR wait and see if they have an at the Shot Show launch/release as in units for sale immediately with the NEW XG50 PRO unit coming soon...Good Luck!

For $3400 at Europtic, there's not enough difference in image to worry about!! Get the XG50 while they got them!

Actually for coyote hunting in open terrain I would rather have the 3x base mag of the XG over the 2x of the Pro.

In most cases, dealers are stuck selling at MAP pricing.

Once a product is discontinued, they can sell it for whatever they want.

Also, once discontinued, many products are sold to the dealers for a discount from previous costs to unload inventory.

Like the auto market, there could be factory incentives too.

Sucks when you buy a product in good faith right before.......

So you have the XG50?
Do you like it?

I personally do not but my best hunting partner does and he absolutely loves it. I have two other buddies that bought them and they have limited use with them but so far they are happy as well. They have a very very nice image, good base mag for longer shots, buy with confidence!

I have an ATN x sight 4K pro amd a sniper hog light coyote cannon. I have two sons the are 11 and 14. They loved it last year on coyotes. It is all we have so it is a share every other shot kind of deal. This would be my first thermal. I just hope to not get a scope that isn’t reliable or accurate. This is a huge huge splurge for me…..if I get one.

Bluedog, that Thermion is a big step up from what you currently have and the Thermion series from Pulsar is the most proven scope in Pulsar has ever built.

My hunting partner has one of the $3400 xg50's and I have an trail xp50 2 lrf. Only difference that amounts to anything is more base power, less fov and shorter battery life.

Bought the xg last week from eurooptics —-thanks kino for the heads-up.
Have used Bering for 2 years and just couldn’t pass up this deal. I shoot bolt guns and just would rather have this type of attachment to the gun.

My first night out with it it went through both internal batteries in a little over 2 hrs which is unacceptable. After turning the brightness down everywhere l could and the contrast down along with turning off the leveling function, image boost, and putting the nuc into auto then only videoing when l wanted to l got over 2 hrs from 1 internal battery.

Now l am running my anker 6700 external battery and got 4 hours with it only draining to 2 out of 4 bars on a test run from the patio at 27 degrees. Last night l hunted 3 hours at 23 deg and took about 10 min of video and it was down to 3 bars.
With the anker, both internal batteries stayed at 100%.
Just info for those wondering.

I will chime in...not sure why so many seem to have battery "issues". I have been running a Thermion XP50 since they first came out with them and after a couple of years upgraded to a Thermion II XP50 and after a couple of years with it, I now have the Thermion 2 XP50 Pro LRF and I have never had an issue with getting 6-8 hours use and still having at least half to one third of the internal battery left.

jmeddy, I'm not sure what you mean by both "internal" batteries...there is one internal and one external battery only. The Thermions run on the external first and then switch to the internal after that...so I don't know how you drained the internal battery(s) first. They do charge in the reverse order...internal first and external second. I do not record continuously but keep the scope on when on stand...when we leave the stand I turn the scope on stand by and will turn the scope off when getting to the truck. I run the APS3(tall) external battery and have yet in several years of hunting with the various Thermions ever had to change out a battery. If you are running the APS2(short) battery, then I can understand maybe running it out in about 2-3 hours, but the internal battery is capable of running at least 3 hours(more like 4-5). So worst case scenario is 5-6 hours total run time. The new Pro models are supposed to have a longer run time, but I started out with the first Thermions out and still never experienced what you are experiencing. A couple of suggestions...always give ample time to fully charge both batteries...the left battery symbol in your screen is the internal and the right battery symbol is the external battery...be sure both show 100% after you have charged them and if the fully charged scope has not been used for a few days, hook it up to the charger a few hours before you go hunting...they do drain some when just sitting. Also, maybe get the APS3 battery and carry the APS2 as a spare. I have the APS2 in the truck as a spare but like I said, I have NEVER come close to running out of battery in 7-8 hours of hunting...always had 1/3 to 1/2 of the internal battery left when done after somewhere between 6-8 hours of hunting. My buddy runs a Thermion and he uses his APS2 and keeps an APS3 as a spare and once in awhile he changes his APS2 out, but he has never run out of battery either. I can honestly say that when I had the Trail model thermal, in the same 7-8 hour time frame of hunting I was getting really low on battery with them...so for me, I have not experienced a diminished battery life with the Thermions compared to the Trail. Keep them charged and "top" them off before the hunt if they have sat for a few days. As DoubleUp said... yours seems excessive.

Here is a video I put together with my new Thermion 2 XP50 Pro LRF. If you look at the battery indicator in the screen you will see a timeline of the battery drain.
The first 3 video segments are the same night in succession...our start time was around 6:30pm and you can see in the 3rd video segment how much battery usage there is at 11:31pm. This is the external battery and we have been hunting for right at 5 hours. As you can see, there is still some left in the external battery and I still have a full internal battery, so I could go for probably another 5 hours if need be. I can rarely go for more than 7 hours of hunting...have usually had enough by that time.
The next 4 video segments in a row are the next night in succession and our start time was 6:00pm and you can see in the 4th segment there is still some external battery left at 11:35pm and 100% of the internal battery left...this is after 5 1/2 hours. Plenty of hunt time left if I could go that long.
This is why I find it perplexing that some seem to be having problems. Again, I use the APS3 external battery, charge the batteries completely, top the charge off for a couple of hours if the scope has set for a couple of days, don't run record continuously, use stand by mode walking to and from stand and turn the scope off between stands. Have done this with all 3 generations of the Thermion and again, I have never run out of battery in a night of hunting(5-8hrs). I do think the New Pro model does have a better battery life and I think they even advertise it as having better battery life.

G Anderson. Yes l know they describe the removable battery as external but l called it internal to differentiate it from my battery pack. My times are actual scope on time while on a set. I asm not complaining of my battery life, just putting info out there.
Actually after changing the parameters described l am pleased with the battery usage even though it doesn’t seem as good as yours and is definitely not as miserly as my hogster 35 or super hogster (with video running the entire set).

Is your external battery the short battery? If you didn't want to have your anchor pac attached you could invest in an APS3 battery and that would help a little on your hours of hunting/battery life. The XG50's are a smokin good deal and I think you will be pleased. Glad you are satisfied with it.

Well I guess if this all goes south I'll just blame you.

I closed my eyes and ordered one. My 11 and 13 year old can't wait for it to get here.
