Yet another 223

The rifle has the caliber and the twist stamped on the barrel. Being a 10 twist doesn't bother me because I like shooting light weight bullets and the faster the better. I had a 223 AI years ago and I really liked it. If this rifle shoots as good as I'm hoping it will it may get bumped to an Ackley.
 
Everytime I look at this rifle I notice little things I missed before. It has an oversize recoil lug, probably .250. I was looking at the back of the bolt lugs and they look to have nearly 100% contact. Someone spent some time building this rifle. It has a lot of "whistles and bells". I wish I knew more about it. I have a 22-250 AI that's kinda the same. It's built on a 700 Remington action and all it says on the barrel is 22-250 40 degree. It's a solid rifle. I've shot several 1/2" groups at 200yds with it and know absolutely nothing about the rifle. Its one of my favorites. Hell they're all my favorites. LOL
 
I have one Remington 700 that has been blueprinted and hammers. The shop is well-known that did the work. However, one thing that's always been a question of mine is why a 'smith who does good work doesn't stamp/engrave their name on the receiver as well as the dimensions of the barrel tenon, etc. This is a good marketing opportunity and it's helps the owner know more when the gun is passed on.

I can't scope the barrel but I used my OAL modified case and a 55 grain VMax and touching the lands was easy with an OAL a little less than 2.250 so I think the throat is going to be fine.

Sounds like you stumbled onto a solid custom build! A Remington 700 with a Lilja barrel, Sako extractor, and custom bedding in a McMillan stock is a dream setup for a .223. Shame about the trigger seller talk, but everything else points to a seriously well crafted shoote

Hey OP... glad that rifle is a shooter.

I just picked up another Savage 10FP in .223 for $375.00, this puts my Savage 10FP/Tactical collection (.308's and .223's) at five. Talk about cheap shooters, those older Savage 10FP and Savage 10 Tactical rifles were one hell of a deal.
 
I found a really good load with 53 grain V-Max and Varget. I got my come ups out to 300yds. (That's as far as we can shoot at my club.) After I got my elevation, hitting a 3" steel at 300yds was pretty easy. I have a new Arken EPL-4, 6-24x50 on the rifle and was pretty much aim and shoot. This rifle seems to be very accurate. The rifle is a little on the heavy side but it doesn't move around much when you shoot.
Myself and the new Rifle Chairman worked a few days last week and built a KYL rack at 300yds and that's what I was shooting at. That rifle sure makes it easy.
 
Thanks Bobby. I think the new steel targets will create a lot of interest with the members at the club. I know I get tired of punching paper. The more people that get interested can possibly get us closer to shooting 500yds. Steve is planning on building some barricades so it will be kinda like a PRS range. (Lets not hold our breath but maybe!!)
 
Like you, I have a .223 addiction. I bought a Remington 700 as well. It's coming from Montana. Only, I bought mine off of a gun forum. Other than a couple of pictures, I don't know much about it. Let's hope there are no ugly surprises.

Our addiction could be worse. At least at the end of the day we have something to show for our money spent. I bought a Tikka 6.5 PRC last Saturday and a suppressor yesterday so my funds are a tad bit low and a guy on the Campfire has a Ruger No.1 in 223 that really has me drooling. I keep telling myself I don't need another 223, but I also know where there is a Tikka 595 in 223........LOL. I'm pathetic.
