Your go to .22 rifle?

Remington 572 Fieldmaster. Adult proportioned rifle that is beautifully balanced for off hand shooting. This is one of the guns with a 24" barrel. Used to wear a fixed 6x scope but have reverted to open sights.

In today's tactical flood market I am surprised at the number of "vintage" style rifles listed and not more of the m&p 15-22 tacticool style rifles listed.

Having experienced some of the "AR" style .22lr offerings, I can assure you that the overall accuracy found in them, compared to the "Vintage" type .22s that are preferred here, just doesn't exist...

My only Single Shot Walther is capable of some pretty good 50 yard groups with select ammo and my old Remington can match it if my old eyes are getting the right light on the front sight..

They simply don't carry as easy as some of these smooth slim lightweight "vintage rifles."

I haven't taken either of my 22's out in the field since I left Alaska in 1986. When I was younger I never went anywhere without a 22 in my truck. My favorite was a Rem Nylon 66 I bought when I was 19. Later I bought a Remington bolt action to hunt blue grouse in SE Alaska. I then bought a Browning semi auto that I dearly love.
