Your ideal coyote round?

.204 & 22-250 are my favs

The .223 is easier to drag around, a bolt gun ..... the Ruger American compact daytime ranch work, tractor gun.

An AR at night, 223 with a Thermal scope

If the range is stretching out then it is honorable mention to the 243 and straight to the 25-06!

Three44s

Mine is a 6X50R Mag, shooting a 60 grain Sierra FBHP at 3100 fps. Kills real well and does not tear up the hides.

OR

A 6X47 Rem with the same bullet at around 3000 fps, no runners, seldom blown up.

Your 6x50R Mag, is that on the 5.6x50R brass, if so what are you shooting it in? I shoot a 5.6x50R Mag in a combo gun.

I have read articles of the 6x50 Mag(no rim) being popular in Australia for shooting Roo's.

For around home here in North Central IL......it is any round that will launch a 22 cal. 50 grain Nosler ballistic tip between 3500 and 3600 fps. Out West, a 243 with 70 grain Nosler ballistic tips at about 3400 fps.

2 for me.... first bullet to 400 wins. Before my AR15 kick I either took a 220 Swift or the 6 mm Remington. 55s in the Swift 55s or 70s out of the 6 mm.

AWS, Yes my 6X50R Mag is a 5.56X50 Rimmed Mag necked up to 6mm. I built the rifle on a Falling Block Works model K action, using a "take-off" Rem 40X 6PPC barrel. I was so happy with my 6X47 Rem bolt gun that I wanted a single shot 6X47 but the extractor on the single shot was not ideal for a rimless case so... I went with the 5.56X50R Mag.

The rifle shoots fantastic, I love it and it has become my "go-to" for everything up to Elk, Moose and Brown Bear (ha ha).

Brass is hard to find and I have been real easy on the 80 rounds that I have BUT my son will be stationed in Germany for a year so I will have him bring me back 100 empties.

#1 choice for me in my version of the "Ultimate Coyote Gun" is 6x47 Lapua, 105 VLD's at 3030.

Been liking my latest in 22x47 Lapua with 80 VLD's at 3370.

I really like the way my 22-243 knocks them over dead with a 75g amax at 3500fps. Shoots flat bucks the wind and has good energy. Not super fur friendly but it hasn’t been affecting the prices I get on the fur on carcasses. Had one exit the size of a grapefruit or so and another the size of a golf ball. Ever since I have been prepared for these long range shots they are coming into 100-150 yards. When I had the 22-250 with theslow twist barrel they wouldn’t come in closer then 250-300 yards. I also like my ar15 6x6.8 shoots Berger 87g vld at 3050 or the 58g vmax at 3550. Have t got a yore yet with the ar so I think I’m going to start carrying that more now.
