CWeeks, I meet Keith a few years ago when I was trapping for one of his neighbors. He gave me permision to trap around his house but threatened my life if I caught any of his dogs. After a couple of weeks of showing him all the foxes I was catching he told me where his brother lived up towards Bone and said they wanted to get ride of all the coyotes up there. I have been goinig back and visiting them most every year since them, but I have not talked to them yet this year. Are you related to any of the Weeks from Swan Valley?

I will have to get back up there and give it a try one of these days. Both Keith and Brent told me one of the conditions of hunting there was if I saw any lions that I had to shoot it, I told them that probably wouldn't be a problem. A friend of mine called in 3 lions a couple of years ago up on Lurchrs place just south of Elkingtons place. If your ever in town and want to go hunting let me know and we'll give it a try.

I will most likely be up there in the end of April for my graduation at Utah State. So we will hve to try and get out. Yeah I got the same talk from Brent, you see a Bobcat let it be but if you see a lion and don't shoot it we won't invite you back. Well that wouldn't have happened cause I only go with Keiths son in law but Dave would have shot the lion no problem. But if I get up there and have the time in April we will have to get out and take some yotes off the Elkington place for they just want them gone no matter what time of year.

To all you fellas that gave me the info I appreciate it. There were a lot of great posts thanks.

I am going tomorrow to give it a first try here in Colorado. I am going to try it on my own. I have decided that I am going to call and do these things and see how they turn out.
-45 minutes a stand
-stay really still
-set up to let cats come to the edge of the really thick stuff
-use rabbit sounds on half the stands and woodpecker on half
-let the call run straight for the full 40-45 minutes
-use the jack in the box or a feather tied to a tree
-try and get an elevated position
-stand up slow after the stand and see if there is a cat around looking for me

Anything else that you would would suggest?

Bobcats as a rule don't like to cross a lot of open ground. If your wanting to call cats give him some cover to use for the stalk but not enough that you can't see him do it.

Does this hold true at night, or are they not concened with crossing open areas after dark?
