Your Pic of the Day

Recently found a structure in Egypt that is like a kiva and they don't know what it's use was either. Appears much of the southwest rock structure is water carved but early geologist think it was mostly wind erosion. Some alluvial and volcanic too but that is mostly around rivers. IIRC Grand Canyon has 2 or 3 volcanic 'dams' that are mostly gone now. Also a theory that canyons were from a release of the water from the plains states lake. Natural dam broke and G.C. & others formed. End of glaciers (10k yrs ago) formed the lakes and started the civilization is S.W., so they say.

Ahhh... That, is a kiva. Which is generally thought to have been a ceremonial gathering place (not everyone agrees). If you were to go down inside, you'd find benches all around the perimeter. I have pictures of the interior of other kivas. But not this one. This one is special. It's completely intact. Completely unexcavated. Completely un-looted. A real unicorn. My two friends and I were absolutely blown away when we found it. We did not attempt to enter it. Fearing it's too fragile to be messing with. Those are original ladder poles sticking out. It's just rare beyond rare to find something like this so untouched.

Here is the interior of another kiva that has been stabilized to allow people to go down inside.

I think they huffed and hot boxed what we would think of is the closest thing to cigar smoke they could come up with.

Have visited many, many known sites - and found two unknown sites (which are still "unknown" to academia - they tried like hell to get me to tell them though
Yeah don't tell them they will just pick up everything and sell it to a museum, etc to fund their research all in the name of preserving it. Stored thousands of miles from where they found it, most will not even be put on display. In my opinion it's best to leave it there, and let someone else find the joy in seeing it and wondering. My thoughts are exactly as you have been doing Sir. Leave it for the next visitor. Hopefully they will do he same.

Going through the cave drawings you showed I was amazed at how many Trump protests was being organized.
🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣

Actually very very cool so glad some are able to do this, makes me envious.

Locked the door and went on vacation.

After consulting I phone translator, we give up!

Finding a door stone, even just laying nearby, is pretty rare these days. In place, like this one, super unusual. Used to be not terribly uncommon and I don't know why it's so unusual now. Who would carry away door stones? People. I guess.

These people had dogs. And somewhere, maybe I've even posted it already, I have pictures of a doggy door.
