While the 870's are probably a better gun, IMO they're only better if you like the feel of them. I've never liked any Remington shotgun I've ever picked up, just don't care for the feel of them. Can't shoot my dad's 870 worth a darn. Fit and feel is the ticket. That's why I 'm hopefully getting a new A5 over the 2 benelli's I've tried. Totally agree with the semi statement. Started the kid I take hunting out on the bantam 500 I have, had a full choke in it and when he shot at his first squirrel it knocked him off the log we were on. Didn't affect his shooting any, thankfully.
