zeiss or leupold

I have had a few of 1 brand and a lot of the other and really they both did exactly what I wanted and did it well. The Ziess was Rapid Z800 and the easiest scope I have ever sighted in easy to use and bright. The Leupold maybe not as bright but I was able to shoot the best group I have ever shot a .104"@100yds with a 22-250AI with an 8-25X40 VX-III AO w/ target dot. Plus a top notch warranty and custom shop and service.
 
also have three Leupold and one Zeiss scopes.
I can't tell any real difference between the two as far as what I see through them.

On the older Leupold VX-III, I don't like that the AO on the objective end gets moved from the slightest touch of pants leg, etc.
All the newer Leupolds that I have handled including two that I own have power selector rings that take way two much effort to turn.

The Zeiss ocular end is a bit large to mount low on some guns.

Have been shopping for a different scope for an AR and it won't be either Zeiss or Leupold.
 
I own a 3x9x40 Conquest and a 6.5x20x50 MK4. The Zeiss has the better glass in my opinion, and I also like the large ocular lens. Eye relief on the Zeiss stays EXACTLY the same from 3 to 9 power. Where as on my top of the line Leupy, I have to inch my cheek weld closer and closer as increase power, not really acceptable in a $1200 piece of glass in my opinion. The down side to the Zeiss is the power adjustment rotates in the opposite direction. Also the Leupy has better turrets.
 
To my eyes the image in the Zeiss Conquest seems to be a tad sharper. This may be something that each person sees a little different. I agree with the others that either scope is an excellent choice.

IMO the glass in the Conquest is touch better, but if I were buying a new scope today for a hunting rifle it would be the VX3. To me Leupold seems more forgiving on quick shots and at odd angles(such as shooting with weak hand on opposite side of treestand) that I experience when hunting.
