Zeroing in Redfield Revenge on Ruger American!

Ruger American .243, Redfield Revenge 4-12x42. I want st start off by saying I'm new to
The game! Scope says zero at 200 but temporarily to get some seat time until I can shoot somewhere that's 200yds. I got it pretty on at 100yds. The concern is that it's dialed up to like 11 and not much room for adjustment. I figure ill have to go up a few more clicks at 200. Is this normal?

I looked at one of those scopes and i had the same ? About the range part was cranked up all the way and was still way to large to properly range a deer sized target ! Was made for a crossbow i think after i looked at the instructions which made more sense .

The scopes magnification setting has 0 to do with having the scoped zero'd. As far as distance you can zero at any distance, as a quick and simple it just means there is 0 adjustment needed at whatever that range is. If youplan on shooting no more than 50 yards, no point in a 200 yard zero and if youre a long distance shooter a 200 yad zero is just making your life difficult.

The scope us not for crossbow. They have specific models for such. It has you 0 @ 200yds. For the AccuRange us my understanding.
When I stated 10 on the scope I was referring to the turret not nagnification. I was to the understanding that the clicks stopped once all the way around to 0. But I kept turning the clicks on the turret and went well past 0. Hope I'm making sense. So I guess I just didn't fully understand the number if clicks on turret? I assumed went from 0 to 11 and 4 more clicks to 0 was max.

I think what your referring to is just there for referencing what your scope was set to before making adjustments, dialing range, gets bumped, ect.

Think they are just reference points and are in no relation to the amount of adjustment a scope has.

Hope it helps.

AJ- Most scope turrets are good for few revolutions. Just guessing, but your redfield probably shipped with the turret in the 'middle' of its adjustment range. Again, just guessing, but you should have about 2-2.5 turret revolutions of 'up' and about that many of 'down' from where you started. The numbers are there mostly for reference points. Hope my explanation is written well enough to be helpful.

Ah, the turret will stop when it stops. The numbers are just for an adjustment reference afterwards. Many folks will zero and then take the turret caps off and align them so they show zero. Then if they make a field adjustment for range or wind they can reset back to zero when done.

I just picked up a Redfield Revolution 4-12x with the Accu-Range Reticle for a Ruger American in 22-250... You can remove the turret caps on any scope and put them back on in the "0" position to make windage/elevation adjustments in the field. I do this on my prarie dog set-ups.

Yeah I'm a rookie. How you liking your American so far? I'm shooting off bipod
And no butt rest and if I don't make operator error it's dead nuts bullseye at 100yds so far. This is first rifle beyond .22 I've ever messed with. LOVe it!!

I have one in 308 that I posted a review on today... I haven't shot the 22-250 yet. I am flat out impressed with the performance... especially for the money. I have a couple production rifles with 2x the money into them that don't perform that much better, if at all... I haven't had a chance to load any ammo for the American yet. I have 2 built bolt guns that shame anything you can buy on a shelf but the performance comes with a hefty price tag haha.
