Banish 30 Return

Ok, started not to post incase this doesn’t have a good outcome, but to be transparent, I figured I’d take y’all along through the process.

This was the first suppressor I bought and it’s been great “to me.” I say that because I don’t have anything to compare it to. This particular suppressor has been swapped between the Ruger SFAR and my Gen II daytime rifle. Both are .308 caliber.

Yesterday I was putting some guns back in the safe and I have to remove the suppressor due to how I have my safe configured.

I always inspect my suppressors when removing them and this one made a noise when I shook it! I knew I hadn’t had a baffle strike because I’ve hit everything I’ve recently used it on. I looked it over and then took it apart.

The baffles didn’t “fall” out so I got the removal tool and pushed them out. Nothing really out of the ordinary, but after they were out I noticed one of the baffle “locks” was bent.
Here’s a pic of what it should look like…

Here’s what this one looks like…

I “filed” it down a little until it could be reinserted with ease and called myself looking everything else over. I reassembled and shook again and still had the “rattle.”

I disassembled it again and got a light to look down the tube and saw the issue. Along with the baffles is a piece that not a baffle but goes in first when assembling. This part is known to stick and they pretty much tell you it will get stuck in the tube and not worry about it. Well this piece is broke along the top edge where the baffles lock into it.

Look at the circled part…

So now I know the issue and gave Silencer Central a call today. I explained what I’d found and even gave them the serial number of the suppressor. They told me no issues and they’d send an email while we were talking that would have a return label and a warranty form to fill out. They verified my address while I checked the email. I had the email and he told me to wrap my suppressor up tight and fill out the form and send it in.

So I now have everything boxed up and will drop it off to UPS tomorrow and we’ll see how long it takes and what they do.

I haven't purchased a suppressor from them, but have used their threading service many times. Both mail in barrels and drop offs at gunshows. All barrels have been turned around quicker than estimated time. My next suppressor purchase will be thru them. They always kept me informed.

My Banish 30 had that same indentation on the sleeve when it was new. I thought it was to line up the tit on the bottom of the baffle. I always turn the baffles until I feel them drop into the groove.

Yeah, that’s what’s missing. It’s not locking to that.

@Spurchaser

Just wondering was that the first baffle of the stack in relationship to the end of the muzzle?
Regardless glad to hear they will look at it for you. I'm sure the results will be satisfactory.
Respectfully
Mike

Kind of leads one to surmise that being the blast baffle that the tab was weakened. hairline fracture or something.
Or a hidden flaw in the material from the supplier. Regardless good to hear that support is working on the issue for you.
Hopefully they can get to it quickly for you to be back up and running. Hoping that it all comes out, which I'm sure they will handle it properly.

Best possible regards,
Mike

I returned one to different manufacturer for a bullet strike due to overheating. When the suppressor was returned, it was a new suppressor with same serial number.

Not sure what they do, but they received it today. I know it was fine the last time I cleaned it. So about a box of ammo since then is when it happened. If the wife hadn’t have harped about the dining room table not being a gun storage area and that’s why we had a safe, I’d still be shooting it.

Update…it’s been 2 weeks and got an email and tracking number this morning that my repairs have been completed and the suppressor is on its way. Have no clue of what they did, but will update again when I receive it.

You got better news than I did today. I sent 2 barrels to them to be threaded. I hadn't heard anything so I called them today. I was told the barrels were threaded the 9th but they are moving so haven't shipped. Dang, done 8 days ago.

I just had the same thing happen to mine. But the tab was bent out. When I used the tool to push them out it messed up the threads! Going to try and get a warranty claim now.

Call them…explain everything you see. I think I even asked for an email to send pics to. The emailed me the return label while I was on the phone with them. Be sure to also print out the form they send and fill it out. I even sent a copy of my tax stamp with the suppressor.
