As the title says.. thoughts on the best 640 resolution thermal for the money. I've went through some of the old posts and the Iray seems to get very positive reviews. I've seen some Pulsar XG-50 units for under $3000.00. I like my Thermion 2 384 unit. It's been great but I may move up to a 640 unit within the next few months. Thanks and Happy New Year to all.

I don't know if they are the best for the money but I have been looking at the AGM Adder v2 and the Nocpix ACE 50. Same price as that XG60 but without a proprietary battery.
However I have never been around either of these scopes so I hoping you get some more replies to this inquiry.

I probably won't. But am at least considering a thermal in '26. I give zero craps about LRF or video recording. Just absolutely zero craps. Useless to me. Resolution, um, NETD, refresh rate is mostly what I care about. I wish there was a no frills, but high performance option. I realize I'll likely end up paying for features I have zero use for, but I wish I didn't have to.
Like I said, probably won't end up actually getting one. But if I do, I want 640, 12um, at least 50Hz,

That video recording is a nice learning/humbling tool. I go back and see things I didn’t see, see things where I screwed up, and even helped find a lot of critters I “lost” in brush. With the WiFi and App I can download and look immediately at the shot or even miss in some instances.

I asked a dealer about one w/o video, & he stated that the video portion was only a small part of the overall cost of thermal.
So the big picture I would assume due to inventory, that the cost to have 2 of the same models, with & w/o, would be cost prohibited due to most wanting it.
As far as LRF, I sold my 1st thermal to get one with it. I seldom run it on stand, but I will range landmarks in more open areas prior to calling, same as daytime tactics.

I have that XG-50. It's a good scope but it isn't the "Best 640 Resolution". That XG model is the older version, not the PRO version. If you want the best image make sure it's listed as XG50 Pro.
However the XG50 is a great scope for $2700.

You know deep down you need a thermal!! Seriously they are amazing. My Thermion 2 has been rock solid over 3 years now. I just need better. Ha. Also I've learned I can purchase a new Bering Super Yoter for $3000.00 shipped through their LE pricing. But that's a whole different battery system so more money there. Choices. I'm very interested in everyone's thoughts on these 640 units before I spend the money on one. I'm an older fart (not a fossil) so it will probably be my last one. Thanks all. Dave, an afterthought... are your still posting those amazing pictures? I'm not on here as much as in years past.
I'm an OLD fart. 380 Rattler for a scanner, 640 Rattler on the AR pistol and a tx60 bolt on the AR carbine. All work well and no problems so far. Shot recording show my errors. All the other stuff I don't need. Seems like competition between manuf is the reason for the frills. 200 yds is my max.
When I decided to take the thermal plunge I decided on an AGM Rattler 35-640 from Outdoor Legacy (who I feel are excellent folks to buy from). Had it for a few months, killed a few using it. Can’t say if it’s the “best” as there are many to choose from but it met my expectations and I have no regrets at all.

Nope, never too many. Some of us, for various reasons, will never have the opportunity to personally see areas in these United States that you and others have been blessed to see. Yeah. I'd like to hear more. Not about the best, the best is too expensive. Not about the least expensive either, the cheapest is, well, cheap. Best balance of price to quality, performance, reliability. Best bang for the buck in a 640 today.
