Same here, the Athlon does look like a nice upgrade. Can't help ya Soup but I am still using an antique "Pro Chrony" from back in the archery tuning days to get a proximation.
I got to use the Athlon a few days ago. Bear in mind, I didn't read any instructions on how to operate it. It did register every shot and did all the things I was hoping for. But......after the shot the screen went dark. I didn't care for that but like I was saying I was just pushing buttons. Today I took the time to play with it in the house and while I was messing with it I went to settings and fixed several little issues I was having. The little tri-pod that comes with it is very sturdy and has rubber feet. It doesn't move around. Comes in a very nice case large enough for the charging cord and even a charger, which doesn't come with the unit. I have several rifle I need to test loads on so I plan on giving it a good work out next time out. I am thinking for money spent it was a nice product. And its so easy to set up!!!!Waiting to hear how you like it William.

Soup. I got some questions but your rates are tooo highFolks,
I finally got a chance to try the Athlon today.
It worked great without a glitch. It did everything that I require which is to tell me how fast my test loads are doing.
A couple of loads had a difference of 40 FPS. I honestly can’t attribute that to the chronograph. I used 5 or 6 powders / primers & bullet combinations and weights , plus a lot of this ammunition was loaded when reloading items were scarce hence substitute powders. I haven’t attacked the app.. No problem pairing the device to my iPhone or iPad. Which in itself is a great feat for an outdated old coot!!
I hope this helps someone . Any questions can be answered for .03 cents each.
Have a nice weekend.
