I threw in leagues for years. 4 man teams. Two Cricket throwers and two 301 throwers. Singles play was best of 3 matches for each of the four throwers. Then Cricket doubles and 301 doubles, best of 3 for each and then Team 501 best of 3 games. Most local taverns participated and most had up to 3 teams to cover A, B and C division players. It was pretty popular throughout the late 80's, 1990's and faded out in the early 2000's as the soft tip tournaments became more popular. After steel tip leagues fell off, several of us continued to throw quite often and hold friendly dart parties at our homes every once in awhile for several years. Any excuse to pitch tents, drink and play darts for a weekend! Lol....
I had to look up a Ginsberg, as I have never heard the term. Looks like it refers to a 9 dart inning in darts baseball. 3 triples in any game is worth noting! I've thrown a few 180's in my day and have closed 3 consecutive cricked numbers with 3 darts a time or two as well. We would often play baseball as a form of practice, or around the world and some other call the shot games. Never learned the terminology associated with baseball tho. Just the usuals... Ton, Maximum, Hat Trick etc.
Nothing but friendly games in the garage these days. My best friend and stiffest competition passed away a couple years ago. Many of the old throwers are gone or no longer throw. I really miss the solid competition. I have a handful of friends that hang out and play, but none are very serious, or very good! Lol...
