I was an “A” league dart thrower in the local scene in the late 90’s and early 2000’s. Steel tip, or what I call, “Real Darts”!. Lol Any throwers on the board?

I always had a sweet spot… I sucked until I had a beverage buzz, and then I was amazing! (At least In my own mind!) lol… I could always hold my own. Until I couldn’t! Lol… Any of you folks dart throwers? I love the game…. Seriously not as good as I once was! Lol…

We use to shoot wood strike anywhere matches out of our bb/pellet guns at each other, skipping them off the sidewalk or asphalt to light them. Also cut shotgun shells in half and just shooting the wads at each other.

While being stationed in Scotland for two years I shot plenty of darts, almost daily, and got somewhat decent at it. Continued for a few years after being discharged and then slowly faded away from it and haven't shot in years. I did enjoy it and was always happy to score a Ginsberg!

I threw in leagues for years. 4 man teams. Two Cricket throwers and two 301 throwers. Singles play was best of 3 matches for each of the four throwers. Then Cricket doubles and 301 doubles, best of 3 for each and then Team 501 best of 3 games. Most local taverns participated and most had up to 3 teams to cover A, B and C division players. It was pretty popular throughout the late 80's, 1990's and faded out in the early 2000's as the soft tip tournaments became more popular. After steel tip leagues fell off, several of us continued to throw quite often and hold friendly dart parties at our homes every once in awhile for several years. Any excuse to pitch tents, drink and play darts for a weekend! Lol....

I had to look up a Ginsberg, as I have never heard the term. Looks like it refers to a 9 dart inning in darts baseball. 3 triples in any game is worth noting! I've thrown a few 180's in my day and have closed 3 consecutive cricked numbers with 3 darts a time or two as well. We would often play baseball as a form of practice, or around the world and some other call the shot games. Never learned the terminology associated with baseball tho. Just the usuals... Ton, Maximum, Hat Trick etc.

Nothing but friendly games in the garage these days. My best friend and stiffest competition passed away a couple years ago. Many of the old throwers are gone or no longer throw. I really miss the solid competition. I have a handful of friends that hang out and play, but none are very serious, or very good! Lol...

I shoot long pointy darts at targets if that counts, won a few state championships too.
I put in a lot of years shooting long pointy dart at targets as well. Both 3D and Indoor target leagues. Typically placed well, but there were a few guys better than myself that generally took the top spots.

Now my oldest daughter was shooting the women’s division at the age of 10 on the 3D circuit, and consistently won her indoor matches as well. She was consistently the top shooter even after bumping her up to the junior division. She had her own damn fan club every weekend! Nobody seemed to care how I was shooting, but everyone would ask how Kelly was shooting! Lol… At about 14 or 15 other interests took over and hanging with dad wasn’t as much fun. We had a lot of great shoots and memories to last a lifetime!

Darts aren't really that popular here in South Carolina. We do pool and horseshoes (kinda gave way to cornhole). Foosball was pretty popular when I was younger. There was an axe throwing fad going around a few years back.

Whenever I visit my family in Iowa and we go out I notice that darts are pretty popular out there.

Can be fun at times, frustrating the rest of the time lol.

Lawn-darts, patch them up, put them back in and the last man standing wins

Tried tavern darts. Not very good at it. I did win a very nice dart board at a DU SC shoot, it is still in the the plastic.

I threw a lot of soft tip league and matches in the late 80’s and early 90’s. Lots of first place trophies. I still have an electronic dart board in my house like the bars had. Had a lot of fun doing it. Wife’s team went to a world regional in Kas Vegas once and qualified for the world finals but I could not afford for her to go. I still throw here at the house every once in a while.
