25-45 sharps load data Help with 117gr Hornady Round nose

I have switched to the 110 FTX for this hunting season.

Couple months back Midway clearance this bullet and I bought a few boxes.

Its shooting dead nutz for me with AA2200 powder @ 2650 fps and I am happy with it.

Very consistent bullet.

CW, Thanks for the info, that's the money. 2650 fps!? I just ran a rough version of your load through JBM ballistics and this cartridge really does seem to be the holy grail for ARs. I've had a hidden objective to find a cost effective AR build that can reliably deliver 1000+ ft lbs for medium size game - at range. Your load should be able to deliver really close to 1000 ft lbs at 300 yards. I'm willing to target shoot beyond 300 yards but I prefer to keep the hunting shots to 300 or less. This FTX load looks to be be able to meet my reqs.
I may have missed it but what barrel/twist are you using to stabilize the 110 gr pills?
 
Hello, I know this is an old subject but if you are still on this site would you mind terribly sharing your load data for the 25/45 with the 110 grain FTX. I have 9 AR-15's in the Sharps 25/45 and I love them. I just wish there was more load data available for it. I use the 325 grain FTX in my 45/70 Marlin 1895SDG and they are a wonderful performer. I'm hoping to use them in my Sharps rifles. Thank you for your time.
 
I've shot 90's and 117's in mine with AA 2200 and RL 17. Max on my 117's with 2200 was 23.0 at 2402 and with the RL 7 at 22.0 at 2363. Neither showed pressures signs in my AR. Mine were in an 18" tube and I would consider these safe for the 110;'s.

I shot some 90's with 2200 at 25.0 grains and 2773. 87's across the board were 2200 and AA 2230 at 25.0 with no issues.

Personally I feel the 87's and 90'd are about as heavy as I would want to use. The117's were shot as a courtesy for a fellow in England that wondered how they do and his components were rare as hens teeth over there.

Hy guys, now this thread us even older but I Really want the 25-45 Sharpes and the 6x45 to become more popular. I thing they are perfect for deer inside 300 yards. The Sierra VI manual has load data for both and the Lee manual has 6x45 data. The Sharpes Rifle Company web sight has load data for their 25-45. Here is my experience with a 24" full contour Blackhole Weaponry barrel. It is 1:8 twist, polygonal rifling that reduces friction, pressure and increases velocity. That is their claim and so far I have found it to be true. I highly recommend Blackhole Weaponry barrels.

All loads are with cci 41 primers and Tac powder and all velocities are 3 shot average with Labrador.
My lightest load to heaviest are as follows:

80 gr ttsx, 28 gr tac compressed, 2990 fps. Loaded in a metal mag and docked the plastic tip for smooth functioning.

100 gr tsx, 27 gr tac, compressed, 2767 fps

100 gr Speer hp, 28.5 gr tac, compressed, 2874 fps.

110 gr FTX, 26.5 gr tac, compressed, 2688 fps.

117 gr Interlock, 26.5 gr tac, compressed, 2658 fps.

120 gr Speer Grand Slam, 26 gr tac, compressed, 2475 fps.

With the metal mags I can load to a COAL of 2.310" and I used every bit of it! Since all my shots are less than 300 yards I don't worry about plastic tips on my bullets. If they interfere with the magazine I just hit them on a file 4 to 6 strokes and load away. To date I have only taken one deer with the 25-45 Sharpes and it was a doe at 30 yards with the 110 gr FTX, DRT! I also took one with the 6x45, same year, with the 95 gr SST. Young buck, 50 yards facing me. Heart shot, he took 5 steps. The only reason I haven't taken more deer with these 2 is because I try to rotate through my collection and their number has not come back up yet, lol. I know, it's a terrible problem to have. Plus 2 of the places I hunt are surrounded by houses so I have to use archery or 22lr. And yes, that's legal here.

Yes, I mentioned the Sierra VI manual in paragraph 1. None of these loads had any pressure signs. I literally couldn't get any more powder in the case. I've heard that Leverevolution might give higher velocity but these are working fine. I did recently get some H335 but haven't loaded any yet. I have used CFE223 with similar results.

The only reason I chase velocity is that I like shooting Barnes bullets and they recommend 2000 fps impact velocity for most of their bullets to open properly. If I start out at 2400 or less that doesn't give me much range. However the SSTs and the FTXs both have much lower operating windows. I think like 1600 fps or so.

Admittedly most of my shots are well inside 100 yards but I don't want to be limited to that.
 
I have no idea what the velocity requirements of the speer 87 grain soft points are but they are a tough bullet. Probably because it’s a deer bullet and I don’t think I’ve had a coyote stop one yet. I am running right at 2940 out of a 24” custom bolt action. They don’t blow up like a varmint bullet but break bones on the way through and blow holes and pieces and parts all over. I hunt a lot of open pastures and most of my shots are over 200 and many are 300 farther. Bullet performance even at distance is surprisingly impressive.

That's good velocity, I think the Speer bullets are hot core which usually aren't that tough. Especially at high velocity and close range, like 100 yards. I'll have to look that bullet up in my Speer manual. I have some Speer 75 gr hp for my 6x45 and they say varmint on the box. I haven't loaded any of them yet.
 
I figured they are made to hold up to 25-06 velocities and then some so the speed Im at isn’t pushing too hard. Helps them hold together and penetrate. Plus its only a coyote for a backstop!
 
You must ght want to play with the 75gr Vmax a little. I run them out of my 25-204 at 3150 and they are brutal on coyotes the only way I can save a pelt is shooting them from end to end.

Another bullet I really like is the 85gr NBT

For deer in the forests the Nosler 100gr Partition over a healthy dose of 4895 running 2850.

Good to know, I have 8 pounds of IMR 4895 and deer is what I hunt. I woshot a coyote if I saw one but haven't seen one in awhile. I hear them occasionally but the woods are just to thick. I tend to just buy whatever bullets Midway has on sale. I get a lot of factory seconds.
